Hello, It is better to use any solvent based primer of good company. The white acrylic colour would be too thick to use as the base coat so it is better to use primer or you can also use Gesso.

Wall putty is in powdered form and used to fill cracks and even out surface. If you will use wall putty, you will have to even out your surface so using primer will be much easier and less time consuming

Hello, AS wood or MDF is porous material, before applying alcohol inks you need to seal them. So you can apply few coats of primer or acrylic colours, before applying alcohol inks on wooden products.
