Tip for base and clear...you don't have to load it on to a glossy wet finish with the base. You can give it a dry looking finish as long as it's even. The clear will make it glossy.

Thanks for the instructive video! I'm in the middle of a painting project for my bike and was curious: after you sand paint smooth before clearcoating, do you use any compound or polish on the paint before the clearcoat?

If you sand the base paint for any reason, you have to spray another coat before clearcoat. Sand, clean w/ soap and water, tack cloth, spray color, spray clear. No polishing or buffing between coats.

I really don't think there is any OIL in a tack cloth....of there was then the paint would NOT stick to the part.....

Painting is not difficult.....but someone hopefully one day will do a video showing how to get the plastic parts/fairings off without breaking tabs or anything else....and also.....getting those parts back together nice and tight as they should be.....since we did not build these bikes we have no idea how they are hooked together, where the tabs are and how to separate the parts or disconnect them....pulling and yanking on them is SCARRY business!

I went to Walmart and got spray cans after watching this video (it didn't have a button under the can.) It came out super shiny and flat No orange peel. The tip is not to hit the button under the can. I was going for the textured look. I hope it lasts the season.

Orange peel is typically the result of improper painting technique, and is caused by the quick evaporation of thinner, incorrect spray gun setup (e.g., low air pressure or incorrect nozzle), spraying the paint at an angle other than perpendicular, or applying excessive paint.

The Bulldog Adhesion Promoter works as the primer for ABS plastics.

@@darrenscully6959 you dont need primer on plastic or fiberglass ,,,,the best shine yo ever get is painting fiberglass i am 70 and have spray painted all my life ,,clear coat base coat is so easy ,but ,cellous and acrylic ,buffed to a sine is the real deal ,,,base clear revolutionized getting a deep shine with no hard buffing love watching the younger guys doing great work .oh and if you drive a lotus ,i probably sprayed it
