Love your channel. Let's be honest - some of us can't really well use layering or highlight and you create tutorials in which effects are real and achievable ! Thanks for that man, really appreciated.

I'm literally crying tears of joy after watching this video. AWESOME metallic finish. Truly beautiful. Have to agree with you on the new look Necrons. SO much more dynamic and menacing/eerie than when they first came out years ago in the 1990's :-D
@BrushandBoltgun4 жыл бұрын
Ah cheers Paul, really appreciated that! :-) I was made up with how he came out :-) Yeah, I had one who looked like a stocky terminator from the cover of White Dwarf, and the original five pack with two scarabs, they look SO much better now! :-)

He is looking amazing. I have started the first 5 Necron Warriors from Indomitus and a base of scarabs. I am doing very similar techniques but I used the Cryptek Armourshade Gloss over the black areas as well. I then gave a single highlight of Skavenblight Dinge to that. I will add Mechanicus Standard Grey to that for characters and larger models. I am going to enjoy painting the Royal Warden a lot.
@BrushandBoltgun4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Arx 13, very much appreciated! :-) Sound like another good technique for them. Got to be said, there's so many ways to paint necrons and get good results I think that it makes them a lot more fun to paint! :-)

The Brush & Boltgun I have been loving the first 5 and will have them and the first scarab base finished tomorrow morning. They are a lot more fun than the older ones with all the corroded and missing parts.
@BrushandBoltgun4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, definitely! I've yet to do it, but want to transfer some of the messed up heads onto the older ones. I've used some of the new gauss flayers on the older models, a really quick conversion so going to throw a vid of that up soon. :)
@arx13814 жыл бұрын
The Brush & Boltgun I will be interested in seeing that one. It does sound good. I used 5 of the old ones as test models and had different armour and weapon painted with different bases. I chose an ash and volcanic base in the end.

I really like the sceme! Really close to the official one, and I love it! In play the royal warden isn’t really all that useful up until Round 3-4 where that distance is closed, and they can give out a Adaptive Strategy command, get the troops out, thin the enemy, and then charge right back in. :p

we picked up some teserract glow, my littlest actually uses it her nighthaunt. Great work and nice looking necron.. turns out I do have some... infact very very old ones... I still have a complete space crusade up in my loft... its coming down!
@BrushandBoltgun4 жыл бұрын
Wow, the whole Space Crusade? :-D That game was awesome! I used the marines from it to bolster my GW ones for an Ultramarine company when I was about 12. Was made up of Marines from everywhere! You should paint some up, you'd have them looking amazing! :-)

Hey Snowflame81, thanks for watching. :-) He was Undercoated with Citadel Leadbelcher spray, but the weather was somewhat damp and seemed to really dull down the metallic finish. Had the same happen to gold spraying outside on damp days too. Thankfully it works just as well as an undercoat dulled or not :-)

Haha! Neveeeer! It does look like bare plastic to be fair. Mad how the paint went! :-)
@oliharding3 жыл бұрын
Waaaay overcomplicated, using so many colours you don't actually need resulting in an unremarkable finish imo. I don't mean to be a dick, just being honest, I think you make some great videos. But so much edge highlighting and layering with brighter shades of colours and it just ends up looking blotchy and uneven, when simpler techniques with fewer paints would have gone much further. Also his arm shawl/brace thing isn't aligned.
@BrushandBoltgun3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Oli, much appreciated. :) The mottled metal is how I wanted them, so that they weren't perfectly clean and smooth after a few millennia snoozing, that said, as with every painting video, use what you like and leave what you don't. :) If we all liked the same things the world would be a very boring place! :)

@BrushandBoltgun3 жыл бұрын
Hey BMV, thanks for watching! :) The GW sprays act like a primer/base coat, so once it’s blasted with that you can crack on with the paints :)
