Hello Yes, colors I used for mixing the figure skin tone were scrofulous brown (game color) + scarlet blood (game color) + ivory (model color) and last add was a speck of prussian blue (model color). Highlights were made adding Naples yellow from Vallejo studio and final highlights with basic skin tone (model color) For shadows I add progressively scarlet blood + black Hope this works for you Anyway, small coloured circles in the video match with the colors I use for each step, so you can use them for color direct reference. When i paint a figure its usually paint the main colours then use a wash. Sometimes it works other times no. I've watched several videos but still go my own way. Not that I'm ignorant just im not expirienced and pretty much give up. I use acrylics and some laquers. Im too afraid to use oils or enamels fear of affecting the plastic and the long time drying time. Im no expert modeller especially when it comes to figure painting. Im hoping i can pick up some pointers from you experienced artists. I very much enjoy the video. Thats fantastic work. Keep it up.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️

I really appreciate your words,, thank you so much! I know what you mean, I use to choose and apply different techniques at the same time until I feel more comfortable with one in particular. What you say about washes for face definition... It might depend on the level of detail the face has, lower detailed faces should be related with worse results in my opinion. About oils and enamels for figure painting, if you usually paint 1/35 or smaller scales as I do, in my opinion acrylic painting is the fastest and more effective method
@George-pp2hr6 ай бұрын
@@notjustpanzer Thank you appreciated. I noticed you mix colour as you go. I've got four different shades of flesh colours. So instead of mixing mostly to lazy to mix I use the shades one at a time. It looks ok but looking close you can see the mix not quite blend in not smoothly mixed kind of ruff and blotchy.looking. sorry I've no examples to show. I've not built any figures lately. But do like seeing other people's work. I have plenty model military model soldiers just a matter of motivation to get into it. Again that's excellent painting.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
@notjustpanzer6 ай бұрын
Maybe if there is a big color difference among each flesh shade, you should mix shades to create an intermediate tone to avoid hard transitions, using that approach might work to fix that issue.
@George-pp2hr6 ай бұрын
@@notjustpanzer Thanks for that. I'll give it a try. For me it's also the size and my eyes are not the best at my age. I'm straining to see. Painting eyes is the most hardest for me. I've recently bought 3D printed figures other than soldiers and I mean female model figures! They are 1/24 scale resin and they have to be made well to look as real as I see in the painted model photos. I don't want to ruin them even the Dragon brand model German soldiers I have I'm hoping to pick up hints I'm seeing and I've seen another trick paint the whole figure black and spray white from above then paint a glaze as it's called with watered down colours so shadow areas are already there. The faces are similar but more like your paint work. Just have to pick highlighted areas of the faces and for uniforms and accessories.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️

You only need to wait until the paint layer or glaze is visually dry. There is no need to wait more time, so you can overlap coats and paint fast, that's the good thing about acrylics. Cheers

What about oils washes? Do you used them for 1/35 figures? I have no idea whether to buy or not. I focus on creating small vignettes and using an oanceri vehicle from time to time. What size do you use for figures specifically? I have raphael 8404 size 2 and da vinci serie 35 size 2.. advise something friend
@notjustpanzer5 ай бұрын
I wouldn´t use oil washes for figure painting unless you were looking for a quick result. In my opinion best results for figure painting are made using acrylic paints, in my case vallejo model color paints are enough for most situations. For figure faces I prefer raphael 8404 size 1. I tend to use sometimes size 2 brush for uniforms but size 1 will be more versatile. In your case, your davinci brush n2 can work fine as they have a smaller size comparable to a n1 raphael.

Unfortunately most of the people don’t have required level of skills to reproduce your work. It’s always interesting to see videos like this but without required skills (working with brush, mixing and diluting paints etc.) they looks as well known meme “How to draw an owl”
@notjustpanzer6 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! I wanted to show where to place the highlights and shadows in a face more than showing color blending. There are commercial flesh color sets which can work for face painting, or simply use the same recipe I show. Face painting is tricky and need some effort but I believe anyone can level up their work by creating some proper color contrast in a miniature no matter how smooth the transitions are.

Men outdoors in bright sunlight are always squinting, so we never see the whites of their eyes, only a dark line as they squint. Painting the whites of eyes in 1/35 gives an unrealistic "pop-eye" look.
@notjustpanzer6 ай бұрын
Well, depending of the eyeball size someone can paint, the result might feel unrealistic or not. It's nice if you draw a dark line to imitate eye's shape, but if you paint them properly final quality is way better. Lucky me, Omaha beach H-hour was at dawn time so there was not a excessive sunlight there ✌🏻.
