This one was brilliant. I come back to look at the sea on the horizon as I had painted one which wasn't quite right in the deeper waters of the horizon. I realised I wasn't deep enough in my blue. Thanks again its so good to have such good material and information to help us as well as have the privilege to watch a master at work. Bill

So nice to see you back, with new videos! Just a twang, a nice brew... Love it!! Getting used to using and making decisions about which blues to use takes practise and experience... Knowledge about how each blue has more green or red in it. Which you explained well. Lots of energy flowing today lol, and is reflected in the painting... And with a large surface, one can get really physical, using ones whole body to engage with the whole process... And, you didn't miss a beat in your colour mixing descriptions. Was waiting for your hat to blow off... Darn, didn't happen this time!! Your new mic set up is great, by the way. Thank you for another great video... Love these seascapes!

Hi Richard, amazing to see the sand dunes. Which beach is it this time? I retraced Edward Eyre's walk all along the Great Australian Bight and there were alot of cliffs followed by sand dunes. This brings back happy memories. An incredible land is Australia for sure.

Thank you Richard. I’ll give a large canvas a go with your canvas video. Thanks again great knowledge on your color mixing and I can’t get over that rig you drive I’m thinking of making something like yours on my 61 Vw double cab. It’s all primer so it won’t matter if I use your style of fast and don’t think too much , that I do and my best are when I go to big brush but I gotta try that big knife on big canvas. Thanks for motivation im blasting to the hardware store and plein air beach big island it’s a lot your your place no one around shoreline north Kohala killer views. If ever this side come around for a day of best spots. Thanks again.

The wizard of Oztralia did it again😎 What a show ! Such a fantastic painting ... these colours : wààw and then that very simple but véry, véry clear contrast between colours beautifully blended with the brush and those very crisp, sharp and abrupt but incredibly rich colours seen from close-by (the end of the video : Jesus Christ ... what a delight): this all works sooooooo well. Ĺove your work RME . So inspiring too to me ... You really do this yoúr own, very personal way: congrats , hat off (can I use yours as I myself have no hat ?!? 😎😎😎😎😎)

that positioning of your palette and painting surface makes a whole lot more sense. It makes my back hurt less! haha. Is there a certain season that the flies are the worst? Or is it because you're close to the beach? When we lived in Ethiopia for a time, May was the worst month, but we had a pet chameleon that we fed them to, so it got fat and sassy during that time. I can tell you why the flies are always landing in the sky of the painting.....because they think it's the SKY! LoL. Just like the little birds keep flying into my window (fortunately, most of them end up clinging to the screen)....because of the sky reflecting in it! So, when I paint in acrylics, I put a piece of painter's tape to mark it off straight. How do you do it with oils, to make sure it's straight and even? I like the contrast in color and chunkiness. Creates interest in actual physical textures.
@richardmusgrave-evans9886
@richardmusgrave-evans9886 4 жыл бұрын
Yes the painting is easier to see from this position, only it’s harder to see the subject I’m painting! Always try to find the best spot to position the camera. I was wondering if the flies think it’s the real sky, lol! I sometimes tape the horizon level and then peel it off early in the picture painting process. It’s fine to do this with oils. I did really enjoy the variety of textures and paint thickness in this painting, it does bring a contrasting interest and subject to the pic all on it’s own 🎨🖼 Cheers

Love your renditions. I'm a big fan. Only objection is to your video work at the end when you zoom and pan all over the place - gets me giddy! Perhaps you could do still close ups of various parts of the painting edited in a collage rather than that roaming zoom. Much appreciated.
