My car ‘s paint does not have a glossy finish! How would I fix it??
@johnnyd5687
@johnnyd5687 3 жыл бұрын
@@doyoeven when that happens to me its usually because i had my gun too far away from the panel im painting, moving the gun too fast, or the temperature of the panel was too cold. Make sure you panel is AT LEAST 60 degrees. The warmer the better. The paint will flow out better. You can “cut and buff” the panel to try and correct you problem. If its really bad start sanding down with 800 grit WET. then move to 1200 grit then 1500 then 2000 grit. WET SANDING. Stay away from corners and edges or you will burn through the paint. I sometimes tape corners so i don’t accidentally sand them. Then move to buffing compounds with a buffer and a wool pad to bring back the shine. Google “cut and buff paint job” good luck

Hi, I wanted to thank you for sharing your experience with others. I know how important it is, as I have been doing airbrushing professionally for over 15 years. When I started my artistic career with an airbrush, I didn't have such information that is very useful for beginners. Of course, you need practice, but the recipe you show is gained over the years and experience, so I think it is invaluable.

I’m fixing to paint a semi truck and I have learned so much from you, thank God I found your videos, I barrowed a bottom loader paint gun because I was used to painting with them a lifetime ago and bought the paint, but I thought I better do some research before I start. Whoa 😳 was I gonna make my life hell. I put the breaks on and bought a new devilbiss top loader, regular & water separator. Bought “slow” drying reducer and have been watching and studying your videos. I think when I’m ready to paint the truck it’ll turn out nice, thanks to you. @@PaintSociety awesome thank you. I got one more question for you actually a 2 part question. But if I'm sanding the truck but not taking it to bare metal do I need to use primer and sealer or just the sealer. Secondly I've heard you mention in a lot of your videos about using a sealer close to your color. since it's a 2 tone truck with dark and a light colors should I 2 tone sealer too, or will one lighter color sealer all over be ok?

I think he is pertaining to silver. in some instances it lays different on the sand scratches. We use intercoat clear as a first coat to fill the sanded clear on the fenders to blend. Some guys use this product he uses. I really think it is the same thing. Old custom paint guy stuff.
@megaman4201
@megaman4201 4 жыл бұрын
What Mike said, more risky to blend silver without some sort of clear bed underneath, some systems a little worse than others... And I've found waterborne to be even more susceptible to showing sand scratches in your blend area than solvent.
@jakefriesenjake
@jakefriesenjake 4 жыл бұрын
@@megaman4201 I plan on painting my 81 Camaro, 1968 gm lemans blue metallic eventually. Never painted a full car before, but I'm watching videos every day. Let's say I'm done all the body work and sanded it to 600. I don't need a clear wet bed before the base blue to stop the scratches coming through if I do 2 sealer coats first right? I plan on 2 sealer coats, 2 base coats, then the drop coat, then 2 or 3 clear coats.

They basically sprayed their paint like powder coat then buried it in clear.I have been doing paint and bodywork for almost 40 years.Got to go to a Siekens paint school for a week in 1993 and enjoy every minute of it. By the way you would be a great teacher for a paint company.

I want to clear up something that was confusing: In the Spraying Clearcoat vid you described Overlap as moving UP that much (i.e a 75% is moving up 75%). In this video you describe it as having "25% new area." Which is it and thanks in advance. I get the concept.

Slow reducer is the trick! First thing i learned from my dad, i remember seeing a kandy paint job with tiger stripes on the hood and trunk, and first thing my pops said was " thats what happens when u dont use slow reducer" 😂

I noticed with a high metallic color, if you hang your paint gun up between coats for 10 minutes etc, the metallic will settle in the gun and if you don’t give it a little shake when starting to use it, you will use up the metallic in a few seconds

When I first started painting , when I had doubts about something in the middle of having to spray the gun, my finger fizzled a bit leaving weird awful extra strips of paints, how you paint with your hands is like a well maintained piano.

Planing on spraying 2018 Tacoma silver on scratched hood and door frames (original owner caused). I never would have figured this technique out. Thanks.

I think that was a great example of how it should be done, unfortunately in the industry there is little time.. I've used blending additives for that same colour and found the wet bedding works 👌 a treat but just using the additive with the basecoat on its own works well too. If you're stuck without blender you can always slightly thin your base with there additive or deionized water whatever the case may be. Painting silvers for me really is more about the prep work, good prep makes for easy application🙂

Nice to see someone prep right to .. this is a great vid for Those learning and even for good painters , we can always learn more.
