I am a teacher of technology and have taught all ages. You are exceptional in your ability to explain from all standpoints. When I did tRaining in large classes there were all levels and that is your strength-your great ability to “break it down” to all levels. Thank you . I have painted in many mediums, but watercolor is my nemesis. Thank you for breaking it down.

Wow! How lovely! Thank you for sharing Emma! I started with Canson 140 cold press but got frustrated, so I finally started using some of the Strathmore papers and then bought some 100% Cotton Bee paper which really made a difference. So far I'm really liking the Bee paper, but I'll try to work on the Canson that I have left with the tips you gave us. One day I'll get brave and open those Arches pads I treated myself to. Love watching your vids!

Strathmore has a 100% cotton paper that I like as well as Bee. I like them for different reasons, but equally. The Strathmore paper is also a lot less expensive than Bee, which I love. Lol.

If you prime your pulp paper from Canson, it works wonders. Try this with a 5x7 piece to start. Just run the paper under the faucet. Do not soak it too much. Shake off the excess and pat with a paper towel. You could also spray each side and spread with a large brush. Now lay it flat on your table or surface. This will also keep your paper from buckling. Now start painting Emma’s pretty flowers. This also makes the colors pop better. The best way to work with pulp paper is to prime those fibers first. Hope it work as well for you as it does for me!

This was SO HELPFUL. I am a beginner and have not invested in good paper. Appreciate your instruction for those of us with cheap paper. It made a world of difference. I love your videos and appreciate all you do and share with your audience! Your paintings are so lovely and your tutorials SO helpful. I am a patron on your site, but do not take advantage as I should of all you offer, primarily because I'm not sure how to, but am so pleased to be a small part of your art process! I'm very much a beginner in watercolor, although I have been exploring watercolor for years ~ you, Shayda Campbell and CreationsCeeCee were the first tutorials I began watching ~ I think as far back as the early 2000's. I currently tend to paint small pieces and cards, but mostly I just 'play.' I'm much better at playing the piano,, but I love trying to improve my watercolor skills. I've not posted before because my computer or settings would not allow me to do so ... but something has changed and now I am able to post! My best to you, your art and your growing family!

reasently I discovered one of the canson papers - the montval 300 g. and it is phenomenal. esp. for that price. try it and see, if it is something you would recommend to beginners. I consider myself still a beginner, but I am painting with watercolour for almost 2 years now. I would have been happy, if I would have discovered this one earlier and not waste time with some mixed media paper or struggle to get me the expensive ones (now I buy arches and fabrian. I have them all, because I feel like, I know, this is what I want to learn. but for some exercises I like to use cheap paper. and this one is even better, than just for brush exercises)
