Thank you for sharing, Tobias! Truly, your eyes don't see things as most people do. Questions: Would this painting be as easy for you in regular oil paints? Are the water soluble oils faster to work with than regular oils? You mentioned it is size 14x28 (canvas I'm assuming), which is not a standard size, so do you make your own stretched boards?
@brennerfineart Жыл бұрын
You`re welcome :-))) As I use meanwhile only linseed oil to thin down the water mixable oil colours the painting process is exactly the same as with regular oils. Underpainting and final layer of colour with enough time to let the first layer of colour get bone dry (tip - work on several paintings at the same time, this will ensure that you always have something to work on). This here is an hdf plate that I buy here in Germany at a company called Boesner. Basically a 4 mm thin pressed mixture of fine wood and some glue that is coming primed with white colour on one side. I choose this format and just cut a regular 50x70 cm sheet to this size. Very flat, no canvas structure - I do like to work on those plates from time to time as a change to the stretched canvas that I also use.

So glad I found your channel. I have questions :) what are you prepping your canvas with? How do you decide if you are going to do wet on wet or dry between coats? By the way, I have learned so much from you! Thank you ❤
@brennerfineart3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lynne :-))) I don`t prep it all, I buy it as it is here in Germany from a company called "Boesner". It`s the famous "Malplatte" - a mdf plate primed with white colour. 'They are cheap and I don`t have to prime the stuff I paint on. Occassionally I use canvas, stretched one on a frame, but also straight "out of the box", also no prep work or cutting required. I most of the time do an underpainting, very often meanwhile trying to get the colours more detailed on the canvas. And in a thick layer that covers the white of the canvas in most places completely. I let this dry and start to apply the next and very often final layer - using the first layer very often shining through as I often just glaze with the second layer. I very often go wet in wet on the second layer whenever i need to blend the colours in a smooth way. And great that you learn from my videos :-)))) Keep on watching, every Sunday evening a new lesson is published here on the brennerfineart channel ;-)))))
