I need help understanding I can only get 1 to 2 questions right. I can’t understand some of the numerical reasoning questions and I don’t know the answers. If anyone reading this can help me or give me a few points on what to do I would really appreciate it.

I’ve learned a long time ago that the important factor to doing well on a test is knowing how the test creator thinks not actually the “correct” answer.

@@OnlineTrainingforEveryone All IQ tests are highly racist! Well according to the people who dont like the fact some races do extremely badly! this even includes tests that are purely pattern no simple maths! LOL these question you did are very easy ones!
@papaschlumpf5894 Жыл бұрын
Well, the circles do have a pattern: The "correct" circles all are different in color, no matter what is what. D has only white circles. So this also leads to the answer: "D is out". (Edit: Oh, I see that others have mentioned that before me) The problem with such IQ-test-questions is often that the creator has a logical answer in his mind when creating the test but the candidate may be even more intelligent and find a logic or a pattern behind the question that outsmarts the creator. Another example for this: Odd word out: Tomato, firefighter car, banana, cherry. There is more than one solution and none is better or worse than the other. You can sort out the car, because it is not edible. But you can also sort out the banana because all the others are red. So in tests like that you often sort out the candidates that are not too dumb but rather too smart. IQ tests are only as good as the one that made them and the one that checks them. You could minimize that problem in always asking the candidate to "explain your answer" but I have never seen such a question in an IQ test.
@hortondlfn1994 Жыл бұрын
I have seen this kind of problem surprisingly often, and there is never a way to explain my choice, nor to show why two different answers could each be correct!
@ericzeigler8669 Жыл бұрын
Well thought out response. Read my response to the question at 6:13. My logic is solid, but I fear the question's creator didn't even think of it. He probably didn't have a 155 IQ. My answer of "C" comes from the observation that each of the 4 squares have triangles in the square's corners. In three of the figures opposite corners of the square have the same color triangles. In one figure the square has dissimilar color triangles in the opposing corners. Clearly "C" should be the correct answer. Perfect example of the point you make in your comment.

There are multiple correct answers to which square doesn't belong. Choice C is the only one whose complete circle is black. In choice B the pac man's mouth is facing South. In choice C it's facing left. In choice D the bottom right corner is black. Choice A is the only one where none of the aforementioned elements can be isolated as a pattern deviation. That's a valid reason to choose A.
@bezcisla Жыл бұрын
For 3rd example i choosen D too, but not by the solution on the video. I excluded D becouse i counted "black shapes". A has 3 black shapes (2 triangles and one 3/4 quarter circle) B has 3 black shapes (same as A) C has 3 black shapes (2 triangles and one circle) D has 4 black spahes (4 triangles)
@jimsmith556 Жыл бұрын
The circles are also breaking the pattern, just like the triangles. A, B and C have opposite black-white circles, whereas D has two white. Therefore the pattern is broken for D for two reasons.

Maybe it means I'm dumb but I could argue there are multiple correct answers on questions 3 and 5. For example on question 5, If the florist "has" 77 plants, then he has 77 plants regardless if he sold all but 7. If he "had" 77 plants and sold all but 7 then he would have 7 left. Also, the florist could have 84 plants left since he has 77 plants and sold all but 7 from the previous batch or something. The problem I have with IQ tests is there is not enough context given to the questions and the concept of "out of the box" thinking is thrown out the window because only people who think similarly to the test creator or already know the trick behind the questions will have a good test result

Why is it not a good idea to use questions like the first one in an IQ test? Because you can find a rule for many (in fact infinite many) values for the question mark. In this situation answer A (5) is also correct. Who is smarter. See, person B knew that the other 4 books were full of crap and only read the book with information that directly correlated to the reality of the machine he was about to use. The other 4 books are full of lies and misleading information. The ability to aquire information means nothing if the information you aquire is wrong. The squares question is a poor example of a question as there’s multiple rules that could define three and exclude a fourth. So you’re supposed to just guess, which of those may have been the rule the test setter was thinking? What a joke.
@zigz1160 Жыл бұрын
There is a second pattern in the first question that yields the same answer, but it’s probably just a coincidence. I looked at how the value changes in the rows from left to right: First row From 2 to 8 = +6 From 8 to 7 = -1 From 7 to 6 = -1 Second row From 9 to 5 = -4 From 5 to 9 = +4 From 9 to 5 = -4 Third row From 9 to 7 = -2 From 7 to 4 = -3 From 4 to X = change from 4 to X If you form a new matrix consisting of the change between values, you get a 3x3 matrix that looks like this: +6 -1 -1 -4 +4 -4 -2 -3 X Where X is the value we’re trying to find. If you look at the columns of the new matrix we just made, you’ll notice that if you make both the first and the second element of the column negative then add them together, you get the third element in the column: -6 + 4 = -2 1 + (-4) = -3 If we follow this logic for the next column, we get: 1 + 4 = change from 4 to X, change from 4 to X = 5 Knowing that the value must change by positive 5, we add 4 + 5 to get our final answer X = 9 Again probably just a coincidence, but still cool.
@asiyakhandhiya2604Ай бұрын
For question 5, there was a simpler way to get the answer. You just need to plus the next number by 2 and plus the 2 every time we calculate the next number. Here is an example 0 (plus 2) 2 (plus 4. I add 2 to the number I plus every time I calculate the next number. Just saying in a easier way to understand ❤

In the last question, all the answers are correct. Indeed, any answer equal to or greater than seven is right. Why? Because it states that the florist begins with 77 ‘beautiful plants’ but only asks ‘how many plants are left’, not ‘how many beautiful plants are left’. The florist could have any number of ugly plants, so the number of plants left is 7 + a where ‘a’ is the number of plants that aren’t beautiful.

@cookie_powers10 ай бұрын
It's funny how I think way more complicated than it actually is. On thr second question my answer wasn't even there yet it made perfectly sense. I added the highest numbers and subtracted them with the lowest of each triangle. Triangle 1: 6 + 2 - 2 = 6 Triangle 2: 4 + 3 - 1 = 6 Triangle 3: 3 + 5 - 2 = 6 Logically, the 4th triangle should also equal 6. Triangle 4: x + 1 - 0 = 6 I don't think I need an equation for this since you can easily go for 6 - 1 which makes 5 as the 0 has no influence in this particular problem. So now we know it's 5: 5 + 1 - 0 = 6 Actually, if there are already answers you have to choose from in which there is no 1 but a 5, it's 5. In this case there is no 5 but 1 so that's the correct answer in this problem. I always tend to think more complicated because it's my way and I shall learn the way of thinking of the author (creator) of this problem. I think in all the ways possible but they get more complicated too quickly since I don't think of other simple possibilities but in my opinion my way of thinking isn't bad actually and rather more challenging but that depends on the person as for me, I thought of this way first so I can't be the only one. Everyone has their own way of thinking so I'm sure others tend to think of my faster than yours and the other way around. But personally, the solution you had is more simple, whether it's one's first or last option, it's pretty simple. Omg, I really can't stop typing.☠️☠️ Have a nice day/night!!❤️🌄🌟

@@mangore623well there is another way that surprised me that made me do better on IQ tests. I learned to speak another language, Spanish. The bilingual brain functions at a higher level. I already know how to play the guitar but I’m not very good. The app comes with guitar training too but I’ve been enjoying the piano too much. So this KZbin video popped up and, of course I thought well one way to do well would be to study for it. It doesn’t really matter what my score is, but it’s just for fun. My mother just died from Alzheimer’s. I used to be terrified I would get it. So I bumped up the Spanish lessons. I recently found out that playing a music instrument lowers the risk of dementia by 65%. I gave blood a couple of days ago it it made me wonder if different types of blood affects your health. So I looked it up and it said people, like me, who have O+ are a lot less like to have cognitive impairment. The only thing now I have to watch out for is having a stroke from high blood pressure because every thing else is in good shape 😊

06:46 - @OnlineTrainingforEveryone This also has quite an easy algebraic solution as well: it's called "Newton's polynomial with divided differences" and it goes like this: With all the ranks of divided differences you construct the polynomial and compute the P(n) that you require. In our case P(6). The computation of ranks is n-1 therefore, 5 ranks required, or, when an entire rank scores 0. Lets' go! Step 1: You setup initial functions f(n) based on your given input. Therefore: f(0) = 0; f(1) = 2; f(2) = 6; f(3) = 12; f(4) = 20; f(5) = 30 Step 2: You compute the 1st rank of differences: Δf(0) = f(1) - f(0) = 2 Δf(1) = f(2) - (1) = 4 Δf(2) = f(3) - f(2) = 6 Δf(3) = f(4) - f(3) = 8 Δf(4) = f(5) - f(4) = 10 Step 3: You compute the 2nd rank of differences: Δ₂f(0) = Δf(1) - Δf(0) = 2 Δ₂f(1) = Δf(2) - Δf(1) = 2 Δ₂f(2) = Δf(3) - Δf(2) = 2 Δ₂f(3) = Δf(4) - Δf(3) = 2 Step 4: You compute the 3rd rank of differences: Δ₃f(0) = Δ₂f(1) - Δ₂f(0) = 0. Here we will notice that in fact, all differences will be 0, and in term all upcoming ranks will be 0, so we don't continue anymore. We will construct the polynomial up until the 2nd rank. Step 5: You use Newton's polynomial to check each solution, by it's generic form: P(n) = f(0) + n ∙ Δf(0) + n(n-1) ∙ (Δ₂f(0) / 2!) + n(n-1)(n-2) ∙ (Δ₃f(0) / 3!) + n(n-1)(n-2)(n-3) ∙ (Δ₄f(0) / 4!) + ... In our case, the polynomial will stop at the second rank, because the 3rd one and the ones after will result in 0. We can quickly check that all polynomials satisfy the first 6 numbers: P(0) = 0; P(1) = 2; P(2) = 6; P(3) = 12; P(4) = 20; P(5) = 30 therefore, it must satisfy the 7th polynomial: P(6) = 0 + 2 ∙ 6 + 6 ∙ 5 ∙ (2/2!) = 42. And that's your answer! This example is trivial, because even a pattern can be easily distinguished, but good luck solving something like this: Compute the next number in the sequence: 6, 18, 90, 504, 3960. No pattern will help you here :) That's why the above solution works very well.

I scored low in IQ as a child because I found difficult questions sneaky!! I knew smart people were trying to trick me. I basically had a bad attitude and just guessed.😮 But I always had good grades when it was straight knowledge information. Black and white so to speak and I excelled at music. Advanced math was a weak point. I managed a masters degree music.

So I'm in a heated debate with my friend over the Florist one. The way the question is worded could imply that Florist also bought all but 7 of their plants because all but 7 were sold. "Sold" could mean that the florist had said plants sold to them as opposed to them doing the selling. The presence of the word "left" indicates that the Florist was the one doing the selling, however, without this word involved, could it be reasonably assumed that the florist also was a buyer instead of a seller? All but 7 plants were sold; could it mean that another entity also was the one who sold said plants?
@amiragerina507016 күн бұрын
Florist 'has' 77 plants regardless of how many are sold. Florist 'had' 77 plants gives 7 as correct answer. If understanding language is important to solving a problem (word 'but'), than grammar has to work.

I now know why I was extremely good at some in tests while performing very badly on others, the reason is that the ones that I found easily where patterns oriented, contrarily to the others. In pattern oriented is test I would get a nearly 28-29 out of 30 questions, guess I’m a genius at recognising patterns. However there are other factors to determine an intelligent person that you wouldn’t find in any test : strategy and planning abilities.

For the 2nd question I found a different pattern but same answer lol. If we sum up the 2 upper triangles top corner they add to 6, and bottom 4 corners add to 12, thus 2x For the bottom two triangles I applied the same logic and since the bottom 4 corners had a sum of 8, the top two corners must be half thus a sum of 4 which is how I got A.

At 6:13 of the video the answer to the visual puzzle is given as "D." I object to this answer. Here is my logic. If you look at each square you will note that opposite angles of the square have the same color triangles in three of the four puzzles. Figure "C" is the odd one out in this group. I've had my IQ tested by professionals and it's 155. The higher your IQ, the more subtle elements of a puzzle jump out at you. It's a blessing and a curse.
@johncarpenter26019 ай бұрын
Ok Mr. 155 IQ... I see what you're saying with answer C... sure... but that's 1 difference from the other three.. perhaps you failed to realize Answer D has multiple differences than the other 3 Einstein.. you just wanna sound smart for no reason.. FOH. The answer is "Clearly" D.

1:35 Omgosh me on this question went like: (ig i went through the longer solution) 10-9=1 10-9=1 Then you add these and you get the first row number Others columns: 10-5=5 10-7=3 5+3=8 10-9=1 10-4=6 1+6=7 So the answer is: 10-5=5 10-?=¿ ?+5=6 --> ?=1 So: 10-1=?=9✓ C) 9

There is another pattern to be found in the triangle test. If you look at the lines of each triangle you'll notice the differential of highest to lowest number is a sequence of 4, either 1,2,3,4 or 0,1,2,3 bottom line left line right line 6-2=4 6-2=4 2-2=0 3-1=2 4-1=3 4-3=1 5-2=3 3-2=1 5-3=2 1-0=1 ?-1=2 ?=3 ?-0=3 ?=3 I know this is a more complicated pattern so your answer is the likely answer but it exists and so an honest answer must include c)3
@olaikintel Жыл бұрын
I get it, but its more flawed than the original answer. You switch places from the numbers you choose in order to get the answer you wish, and also last one starts with 0. Original answer is less complex sure, but also less flawed, making it the clearest answer.
