My test is 09/18/24 and the only thing I feel anxious about is the alley dock. That said, I’ve relied heavily on this channel and it has been instrumental in making me believe that I can pass and believing in my abilities. If I were in MO I’d certainly be in school there. It’s really hard to find the quality of instruction that you can get from this channel in the wider CDL ecosystem.

Man I like how you taught this and broke this move down in sections …. 1) first cut turn left reverse until tractor & trailer is at about 90°(right) stop 2) second cut turn right reverse until tractor & trailer align straight stop 3) reverse straight about 10 to 15 feet stop 4) Turn right reverse until tractor & trailer is at 90° (left) 5) turn left reverse until trailer aligns with box tractor looks like it’s at about 15 or 20° then align tractor with trailer straight backing into the hole……. I shall try this method today in the yard! Will let you all know the results..👍🏾

Easy Peasy !!

So I noticed your turn on the offset goes further than the middle of the cross member. Our instructors tell us not to oversteer beyond the middle, where an orange painted dor is located. We stop immediately after seeing the orange dot, countersteer and straight back. My problem right now is determining how much I need to straight back in order to be able to hard right or hard left lining with the box.
@CDLYeah Жыл бұрын
Hey there, thanks for reaching out. First off using reference points that are so specific to a vehicle is problematic if you’re truly trying to learn to read and respond to a trailer. Make sure you’re able to understand how and why the trailer is responding the way that it is. As far as the redirection of the trailer into the box, a spread axle moves slower so you’ll need to push it earlier if you’re in a spread like a flatbed. If you’re in a tandem you’ll push the trailer closer to the object you’re trying to pivot around. But knowing how to use our pull ups is actually far more important than nailing it on the first try. Please check out my CDL backing part 2 video for two simple pull up corrections. You got this ✊🏻😁

@CDL Yeah alley dock. My trailer jack knife sometimes. Is it easy to back a 53ft trailer vs. a 28-foot trailer
@CDLYeah Жыл бұрын
@@boharris3117 Great question Bo ! So shorter trailers can be easier in that the overall length of the truck and tailer is smaller so there is more space for pull up corrections ... it can be harder in that they typically move left and right faster and thus with greater speed can lead to a faster jack-knife ... make sure to control your speed and respond to what you are seeing with a 25ft plan for the path you want the trailer to take ... the anticipation muscle as I refer to it.
