Went to this same emissions place... for those asking they did obd2, visual inspection, and tested what came out of the exhaust. (May have been because I was getting an old 90's honda tested, needless to say they failed it and its been sitting since). Tip: they don't emissions test in casa grande, get your car registered there if you cant seem to pass emissions.

In Arizona, no CEL you pass inspection. A tune is how you pass. After removing CATs my P0171 lean code turned on. Too much air flow and not enough fuel creates this code because the ECU can not adjust for your mods. Therefore the CEL light appears. A tuner can adjust for mods making the light go away because the car is not running dangerously lean.

It's not testing the emissions. If they were using a exhaust gas analyzer it would fail for NOx. Fortunately all they are doing is making sure the cars own computer says it's fine. 🤣

In Arizona, as long you don't have a CEL. You should pass. You can't just turn the light off and show up because they will still detect the CEL.

What about the tune makes it so you pass emissions? I had berk resonated test pipes + tune and I failed the emissions test (Colorado). Come to find out, the tuner disabled my O2 sensors and was causing my car to not be ready for emissions. I had to put the stock cats back on in order to pass. Did they have you go on the rollers? I had to go on my rollers in my 06 coupe to pass emissions.

I think I’m going to need to get it taken care of my mechanic said. He recommended I get some magnaflow cats universal. He said they will pass Cali smog. It’s like 500 for both cats online. Hey have you ever had this issue? P2A00. I replaced the b1s1 on the header on the passenger side, but I still keep getting the code to come back up. I almost have the exact same set up as you as well. However I have a Kinetix V+ manifold, Nismo cai, 1320 test pipes and Motordyne tdx exhaust. O2 sensors have foulers and i had replaced the manifold gasket as well and applied rtv too because of the new manifold. Code kept coming up and I replaced the sensor and did the ecu reset. Code still comes up. I am not sure what I can even do and its already failed emissions once so far. I did a lot of research, but could not find any good direct answer on this. Do you possibly have any suggestions on this? If I overlooked anything too as well?

You did everything but what the code tells you to do, replace the 02 sensors. There are 4 02 sensors. 2 before the CATs and 2 after the CATs. I replaced all 4 a long time ago when I got a check engine light for 02 sensors.

Quick update, replaced all 4 sensors and just passed emissions. Thanks for the advice! Also gonna post a video when the new Motordyne Shockwave High Flow Resonator Muffler Delete Pipe when it comes in, replaces the gigantic suitcase resonator that came with the TDX Exhaust.

I've only been here in AZ for 4 years, but it has been around longer than that. After some comments, I do think it looks to vary by county. Not sure how long emission testing has been going on, but you pass if you don't have CEL light. No physical inspections.

I believe it’s only in the Phoenix Valley area. If you vehicle is registered in Flagstaff as an example you do not have to pass emissions it’s not necessary.

In some cases, O2 bung extensions on some test pipes will prevent it as well. You don't necessarily need a tune to get rid of it

The spark plug anti-fouling extensions are easily seen. The Calif inspectors are ruthless. My cat is dying and my CEL is coming on many times a day. There is a method involving a resistor in series with the output wire on the O2 sensor and a capacitior across the sensor leads. It prevents the O2 sensor from going over .9 volt and triggering the CEL. Some of the so-called cat eliminator "black boxes: use this method. The value of the resisitor and capacitor varies by the car. Arizona people are lucky because they only look at the scanner readings. But on most cars, if you remove the cats, what do you do to keep the CEL from being triggered? The ECM/ECU is looking for a certain pattern of signals or the CEL goes on. You can get rid of the CEL light but it will show up on the scanner. So how does one take the cats off and keep the CEL from going off? Any kind of tuning makes no difference. The ECU/ECM is looking for that signal. It can tell if there is no sensor and no specific output from the sensor. So what is he using?

@@amazoidal a tuner can remove checks for the signals in the ECU and just because you're putting test pipes doesn't mean you're removing the sensors 🤦🏾 the extensions are meant to keep the reading in range so the fault doesn't occur (just like whatever electrical way you described). The government would still get a reading from the sensor like usual because it's still present. Like you mentioned the only downfall is that you can see the extension visually so if they lift and check then you're screwed. At the same time not everywhere is as strict as California
