One note for people, when you're looking for your 7th character, make sure you look at the ENTIRE section first. I was going to ask about question one, because I couldn't find the 7th character B under 42.302 for the unspecified fracture of shaft of humerus, left arm. I was looking at the 7th character boxes on the page I was on. Then I realized that they were all for closed fractures only, so I turned back one page, and at the top, where the 42.- begins, that's where I found the correct 7th character. So, don't be a goof like I am; make sure you look at the whole section if you're new to coding. :D Also, thank you for this video! It's going to help me greatly when I take my CPC. Since I only get one attempt, any strategy that helps me pass it is much appreciated!

Thank you so much. I failed the CPC exam twice this year because I was attacking the case descriptions with a lot of info completely the wrong way. I always ran out of time because panic would set in every time I got to a question with too much to read. After watching this, now I know what I was doing wrong. I was focusing too much on the excessive details and not grouping the similar codes together first. You explained this so well. I just have to practice this method so I can hopefully pass on my third try when I'm ready.

You can use either 2019 or 2020 code books. I personally went ahead and bought my 2020 books, but if you have 2019 you can use these for the test.

I'm working on practice exams from AAPC and what I am finding is that the majority of the multiple choice answers they give you there are no identical codes which would allow me to group them up, therefore I have to look up each of the 4 codes. I watch your videos and it all seems so easy and then I go and attempt the AAPC CPC practice exams and they are very difficult.

Hi Tuani. Yes, if it doesn't take too much time or you can use the colored pens to circle the group. When you see so many codes in the answer and it looks so confusing then highlighting the group will help to sort them out. Good luck with your study.

Sorry I don't have time for the on line tutoring. Just focus on the learning materials that you have now, remember to use my tips and strategies to tackle case studies. When you have time read ICD10 coding guidelines. Don't be so nervous, you can have 45 incorrect answers and still pass the exam. You need to tab and highlight codes in your book when you do case studies. Good luck with your exam!

Hi Diane. I recommend that you purchase the hard copy simply because first you can tab, highlight and write your notes in the book. Second, you can use it for both online or in-person exam and lastly for coding study, you have to physically touch the book, turn the pages and know where each sections located. I hope it helps.
