How to PASS The Masters/Clinical LMSW/LCSW Exams with Practice Questions

Today I review 5 practice questions with varying topic ranges. I apply the SFAREAFI acronym as applicable. Additionally, I provide motivational words of encouragement.
The ASWB Clinical Exam, or the Association of Social Work Boards Clinical Exam, is a test that was made to determine whether or not an individual's level of knowledge of social work in a clinical setting is sufficient. You will have four hours to complete 170 multiple choice questions, including 20 pre-test questions, that test your knowledge in Human Behavior, Diversity Issues, Diagnosis and Assessment, Psychotherapy, Communication, Therapeutic Relationships, Professional Ethics, Clinical Supervision, Practice Evaluation, Service Delivery, and Clinical Practice and Management. To register, you must have at least a Master's degree from a social work program, and two years of clinical social work experience.

Question 1 makes no sense. If we are agreeing that her response is appropriate, then why would we go and diagnose her with depression. Tbh a Z code makes more sense here

I just took the ASWB test this morning and I really can't believe that some of these questions were actually on the test, but worded slightly different. I'm not sure how you got a hold of these questions. But this is quite helpful.

For the question with borderline personality disorder, and dependent personality disorder, I could see it going either way since the woman has a clear need to be around another person by getting involved with a man at the gas station out of no where.

I think I think to much when reading the practice questions. I also change my answers a lot of the times because I do have test anxiety. So when looking over and reading questions what can I use as a clue to know that they are an application question?

Hi, so the SFAREAFI application questions are not in order? You can refer before assessing? But safety and feelings are always first? I guess I am confused about body dysmorphia question. Thank you.

Hannah T the reason why you refer is bc the SW is incompetent in body dysmorphia. I was somewhat confused at first too but Phil made it very clear and understandable that the SW would not continue in a working relationship with this individual bc the SW would only get so far bc they would eventually have to refer to a counselor with body dysmorphia expertise. It wouldn’t be right for the client to have to jump from one counselor to the next.

For question 5 I thought the answer would be refer to domestic violence because it consist of safety as well. I guess if it have said provide a list of domestic violence shelters would that been considered safety then?

There are no immediate safety concerns. The client reported getting sexually abused in the past, yet did not want to pursue it. She wanted to find ways to improve the relationship. Therefore, we need to honor her wishes and know our limitations.
