+Lavanya Babu You shouldn't worry about it too much I know it's hard not to but it's not to bad once your in the car with your examiner they may be nice and they do help you on the test sometimes :) you just have to keep telling yourself your instructor wouldn't put you in for your test if they didn't think you are ready to pass it, they are not looking for pro driver just someone who's safe and who can drive on their own good luck with the test! And thanks looking forward to it :)

Here's my biggest tip. If you make a mistake, correct it and pretend it didn't happen. I was pulling away and left the indicator on for too long. Turned it off after about four seconds and then panicked thinking he'd marked a minor, and thought "Right, I need to keep an eye on that." But, whilst trying to make sure the indicator cancelled, I got too close to cars at the side of the road. Not ridiculously close, about half a meter away from them, which was too close for the examiner's taste, and got three minors from that in total. The kicker? He didn't mark the indicator as a minor, but because I was panicking about the indicator, I went too close and got three minors in the process. If I hadn't have done that, I would have passed first time, very easily. If you make a little, stupid mistake like that, correct it and literally forget it that second. Don't even spare it a second thought. If you were taught properly, it won't happen again. If a stupid mistake happens, it's a stupid mistake and you'd be stupid to make it again, but with stupid mistakes, there's also stupid ways of trying to prevent it, like me. DO NOT keep thinking about that indicator. Forget it, he's probably marked you one minor, and stressing more about it will only make you do another stupid mistake for more minors. The less minors you get, the cooler you are. Oh, and if you bump the kerb with your tire doing things like the three point turn, make sure you only touch it. If you're going really slow and you touch it, the world isn't going to change. That'll get you a minor. If you bump it reversing relatively fast or mount the kerb, however, imagine if a kid was there. You could scare them or worse. The driving test is pretty realistic in the fact that if you brake too hard, that could be seen as having lost control. If you brake hard for a somewhat good reason like someone suddenly crossing the road at a crossing that no one was at a split second ago having run up to it, then you're likely to not even be marked, but have the examiner notice you're paying attention to things that are developing fast in the background. Oh, and the old push-pull method; The instructors will tell you that this is a minor if you cross your hands, but it's not. If you keep one hand on the wheel at all times whilst doing this, you should be fine. However, I would recommend you use this method as much as possible, only crossing your hands when you really need it, like at a very small/tight roundabout. I did cross my hands twice and didn't get any vehicle control marks. Bay parking is quite easy. Your instructors will give you these weird 'reference points' to look at; These are literally useless. Look in the side mirrors and pay attention to where the line is, and if you think you've gone over the line or you're not parking straight just looking at the mirror, just fix it on the fly. Just because experienced drivers can do it easy as piss does not mean you can by following these reference points, and these reference points can actually make it harder because you're trying to find the perfect position for the car. And these reference points only work if your head is in the perfect location. If your head is a millimetre too high and a couple millimetres too far left or right from your normal position, you can pretty much wave goodbye to any perceived accuracy. The best way to learn your car's width, by the way, is to go on a road with lots of small potholes and drive, paying attention to where they are and when you feel the bumps. Also good is speed humps to tell how far your bonnet and wheels are from your physical location. Driving is great. Trust me, I've passed my test and I've experienced it. Apparently that euphoria will wear off, but so far it hasn't! I wish anyone taking their test good luck, and hopefully my input on this subject will help you! :D
@AlexGreenwoodUkulele6 жыл бұрын
OH! And don't worry about speeding too much; one or two miles per hour will not make a difference and he won't be able to tell unless he physically looks by moving his whole body to see your instrument cluster. I did 24 in a 20 zone and he didn't even notice. At the end, the conversation went like this: Me: "Didn't I get marked down for speeding then?" Instructor: "No...? I didn't notice any excessive speed during this test." Me: "But I was doing 24 in a 20 zone, I thought that would have gotten me marked down" Instructor: "Well, I didn't notice you speeding and didn't see any indications as to your speed, and noticed no braking to suggest you went slightly over." Me: "Oh, okay. If I'm being let off, I'll take it!" If you weren't doing a ridiculous speed for the conditions, space and time, he has no need to mark you. You could do 40 in a 30 zone and he probably wouldn't notice, at least until the police car comes up behind! :P

Alex Greenwood about to have my second test. You’re absolutely right, during the show me tell me question i was trying to find the switch for my fog lights, started panicking and got too close to some parked cars and the examiner grabbed the wheel. Disappointing when I only got 3 minors and would’ve passed if I just told him I didn’t know where the fog lights were.

The most important word during the exam "observation" The examiner needs to see how confident and how observant you are. Change in speed and lanes always need observation on the complimenting mirror. Its one of the easiest tests to take if you know how to drive.

I can't thank you enough Paynos. I passed first time thanks to your tips. Your video has to be one of the most clear cut video out there. The tips that really helped me were, watch other videos too and take points from everyone. Don't rush to book your test, be confident and comfortable with the car you are driving. The one thing I think helped me the most was the fact that I spoke out loud what I was thinking and doing during the test. For example if I was approaching a roundabout, I spoke to myself, right there's a roundabout ahead so I'm slowing down, gear two etc. I think this helped the driving examiner feel safe with me in the car and I have my DI to thank for this tip. Good Luck to others who are taking their driving test in the future💛 if you are looking for a DI in Hampshire, Claire is the best one out there, trust me.

You really don't need to make things obvious, examiners are highly trained to identify faults. You don't need to make it obvious if you're going to do something either. When you sit with a learner driver for hours and hours each day it becomes so easy and predictable. I promise everyone on here you don't need to make what you are doing obvious. Matthew ADI (driving instructor)
@matthewnewman73347 жыл бұрын
Don't get me wrong there are a lot of good things in here but let's take stalling in two different situations 1. Stall at a side of the road -> handbrake and neutral, restart the engine may result in a minor 2. Stall onto a pedestrian crossing or halfway onto a roundabout or junction, handbrake neutral would take up to much time and cause danger so just clutch down and restart the engine/set the gas/clutch smoothly to bite. Hope this makes sense

At least I hope they don't cancel again. 😅 I had it set for the 19th September (Wednesday) and was more than ready and prepared after spending virtually all night watching videos like yours but they rang me on the bloody day at 8am when my test was at lunch time (12:32PM to be exact) and cancelled on me last minute as the examiner wasn't willing to work at lunch apparently, my instructor was pissed too as I had a lesson booked before hand and booked her car for the test too. I had to rebook it (freely of course due to their bullshit) on such short trying to do it as soon as possible. It's now 5am on the 21st September, Friday. I'm trying to sleep but I'm feeling anxious since missing out on Wednesday crushed my spirit a little. Hopefully I pass. Test today is at 3PM so a little later than I'd like but maybe it's a good thing. Thank you for the video! Really helpful too!

it went good but i failed because i stopped at randabout when there was no car. so my advice would be dont be too hesitant
@Paynos7 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry you failed, keep it going! You do have to be decisive whilst driving, but that's something that will come through practice and experience :)

Got 16 minors in my test all for not checking my rear view mirror and depending 'too' much on the exterior mirrors... Wtf does that even mean? Did everything else perfectly but failed for apparently not checking my rear view enough even though I did. Absolutely ridiculous.
@liamchandler88607 жыл бұрын
SmallTalk you fail for getting 3 minors for the same thing? Sorry I just dont believe you get that many for just one thing.
@Julian987477 жыл бұрын
Its 4 for one thing and yeah but my examiner didnt say anything until the very end and said I got 16 minors, they were all under different categories like some for observation and some for signalling but he said the reason was the same for all my minors. Passed second time with only 3 minors literally a week after though so doesnt really matter anymore :)
@juliewhite53357 жыл бұрын
SmallTalk in uk you cannot take a test without a 10 day gap
@Julian987477 жыл бұрын
Yes you can, I took the test a week after failing it. Guessing it depends on where you live because the driving centre I went to had a lot of slots open for the next week.
@AlexGreenwoodUkulele6 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, this is quite obviously a case of you NOT checking your mirror. That's what it means. What's absolutely ridiculous is you had not checked the middle mirror. I don't believe he would mark you not checking that mirror even though you had unless you hadn't made it obvious. A good instructor would have told you to make sure it's obvious. And of course he wouldn't say anything until the end. You expect him to tell you what you're doing wrong...? And, no. You HAVE to wait 10 days by law otherwise you and the test company are breaking laws. Check on the .Gov website. if you don't believe me. www.gov.uk/driving-test/driving-test-faults-result I'm fairly certain you're lying entirely here, but anyway..... How bizarre...

I feel a bit more confident after watching this just had my last lesson before my test next week, My instructor basically told me my last drive was a rubbish one and before he said all this to me I was averagely confident about passing very optimistic and relaxed about it until he said that, now seeing this I have a view pointers and I now know what I can do a bit better! Hoping I pass first time because it's a long wait for another test and I don't want to get to the point where they start teaching the new way of the test which is being enforced soon!! Wish me Luck!

Just to a heads up guys! ROADSIDE DRUG TESTING started in the UK&Ireland this year.Police can stop you anytime and do a quick saliva drug test. You are fucked if you smoked marijuana or used any illegal drug in the last few days. Always have a saliva neutralizing gum on you! The gum starts working within 30 seconds and clears your saliva for 30 minutes.
@vazallusoriginal7 жыл бұрын
WTF man...are you serious??? Just checked...its true. Really fucked up...how long does marijuana detectable in your saliva?
@edlong20087 жыл бұрын
It depends on many factors..how often do you smoke, how strong is the weed etc.. .It can stay in your saliva up to 1 week (in extreme cases), but normally 2-3 days.
@lesterdiamond65597 жыл бұрын
Oh my...what happens if someone gets caught?
@clausgruber86737 жыл бұрын
Its similar to mobile random breath testing, drivers and riders may be stopped by a police officer at any time, anywhere in the UK. Same in Ireland and AU

Where can I buy that gum? Is it available on amazon?

My test is in the middle of November I've been having lessons two hours a week. , however I have considered doing intensive. Would you recommend intensive closer to the test date like at least five or seven days before
@Paynos8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'd definitely recommend intensive courses as close to the test as possible. Some courses will let you go for however many days and then have the test right at the end of the training. My experience with intensive was great :) Good luck on the test!
