thank you for the video. It was very handful. I have a question. I am current phd student and applied for another program I find more interesting. However, I have not have any publications, though I have been in the academia for a long time. I feel like that would be a disadvantage. Do you have any suggestions to have to explain it and demonstrate enthusiasm to make publications when if I am selected? I really am enthusiastic in deed, but I wasn’t confidence to send publications yet and also overworked currently.

It depends on your university and how important publications are to them, but I’m sure if you explain that you haven’t had the time yet but it will be a priority in future they will understand?

I got an interview offer, and the professor who will interview me is not the person who I wrote in my SoP that I want to work with. Do you have any recommendations to address this if this is the case? For example, should I tell him I wanted to work with you (but he might know I did not write his name in my SoP)? I'm nervous..

Complete and utter bullshit. So many people are applying for PhD programs that it doesn't pay to even try. I took a tour last week of a major Tier 1 university's Materials Science lab. I was told that there are very few academic positions, only about 3% of PhD grads can find a job at a university.
