First off, thank you so much for your very detailed and helpful videos. Secondly, could you please tell me if the Ready-Mix Plaster Compound is the same compound you used to put on the back-block as well as the 3 subsequent coats to cover the joins after installing the back-block, or did you use 2 different products? Thank you in advance/

@mitre10nz2 жыл бұрын
HI Alex, its fine if Fibreglass Mesh Tape overlaps you may need to use more compound to cover the mesh tape as it will be thicker in that area I hope that helps ^Kyle

I just butter the edges sit the piece flush in the hole and then top coat it .... it’s done in an hour ..... never cracks cause the cement sets strong and the hole is so small anyway

Why not fix timber to the back of the board rather than stick board behind, quicker and stronger
@glennfolau6959 Жыл бұрын
I used to do that, I still do occasionally, but what tends to happen, is that the houses shift, and settle over time, depending on the ground conditions, drainage, geological conditions etc... When the house moves, the battens remain in place, yet the patch moves with the rest of the wall, and I have noticed, that even after six months cracks can occur.
@Amuro895 жыл бұрын
Just a question about the crack on the wall. After sand it down and plaster it over, could i use that gib paper jointing on top over the crack i just fill to prevent it cracks again?
@mitre10nz5 жыл бұрын
Yes most definitely use the paper to do this. it will prevent the crack from opening up again.

Yes, fixed for the eye, but no one is allowed to touch this place or slam doors nearby. How about cutting the edges at an angle of approx. 45 degrees to create space for plastering the joint as recommended by the plate manufacturer and supplied as follows.😵

This is for the DIYer haha all these pro’s that does it for a living saying how long it takes hahha , I’d say this is how you’d do it at home in your own house where you have the 24 hr in between coats and sanding , no one would make any money taking 4 days to patch a hole the size of a 50c piece haha
