How to pause and switch color pen with Cricut Joy

You have NO idea how much I appreciate the transparency & showing mistakes when I'm trying to learn. We obviously watching to LEARN.... but some channels will edit their mistakes as if there was never a learning curve. I have no clue what kind of materials/projects require the pen & color changes tho... Are u making stickers?

I know I'm late. And maybe this is has come on an update but this method is not necessary. What you need to do is have one layer for each of the different colors you want to use. And then in cricut design space you select the drawing option and for each layer you put a different color which you can do right besides the cut/pen option (it doesn't matter which colors you're putting, as long as they're different). If you do this, the machine will stop and ask for a pen change when it's done with the layer! Then you can use whatever pen you want. I do this all the time.

I want to do this the problem is that with the preloaded designs it doesn’t tell me what it’s going to draw so I don’t know when to switch the pens. It’s crazy because it’s Cricut’s own design that has 2 colors. You’d think they would work correctly.
