Great video Eli as always. This is just the kind of guy he is. Doordash deactivated him yet he still keeps his head up and still promotes Doordash. You see this Doordash? Gotta #freeEli and reactivate him. Also you make a very good point, be more selective with your orders. Be patient keep declining and you will eventually get good orders. The magic numbers vary but it depends on your area. Also it is important to have a blacklist of restaurants you will not accept no matter the payout. Some restaurants just take way too much time and with problem after problem, you have to weigh the benefits of the payout to determine if you want to deal with that. My blacklist is Popeyes, Sonic and Buffalo wild wings. Base the blacklist on your experience, be fluid and add restaurants or remove restaurants to it. Also never accept a 3 dollar or 4 dollar order. Its not worth it. Even if its going down the street, your time is worth more then 3 dollars.

In this area (I'm also in the Twin Cities), I've found that blacklisting chains isn't always necessary. Like, there def Wendy's that I WILL NOT go to, but others really have their sh*t together. Same for White Castle, Chipotle, a few sushi places, etc.

@@shaunaann7473 I don't really blacklist chains but locations in my area that has a really slow service or very long drive through lines. For example I black list chick fil a during the peak lunch and dinner hours. Popeyes because they are slow and a sandwhich shop called which which because even though they are not slow, they are out of half the menu most of the time also Buffalo Wild Wings on Thursdays because of half price wings and theres usually a lot of people then. But its important to keep up with the blacklist and evolve it over time. It'll save you a lot of time. Do a trial run and see which restaurants in your area are on their game and which one aren't.

My concern with declining orders is that it counts against being a "Top Dasher" every month (if I fall below 95%). Is it worth keeping my acceptance rate up for that?

@@BoomerKeith1 that's a great question. And no, it's not worth it to get top dasher status. The only "perks" you get is to dash anytime you want. But without top dasher, I've been always able to schedule or dash when I want. Another one that are rumors are " you get better orders" But I've gotten great orders by declining the lowball ones so I'm not sure this rumors are true. You are better off declining orders to get better ones. I belive its not worth your mileage and time to maintain a high ar for top dasher status. Think about this , if you get a 3 dollar order , you do two an hour. You are at 6 dollars . The IRS also estimates we spend 58 cents per mile on our cars for delivery plus gas and your time you are loosing money . It's better to get a 10 or 15 dollar order for 2 dollars per mile. At least then your making money even without having to be top dasher. Make smart decisions, you are technically a business owner of your own delivery company. You can and should make choices on what you accept or decline.

@@derinclark3485 best thing to do is just try to familiarize yourself with the city’s restaurant spots and go from their. If the drop off is too far off - then it’s probably not worth it.

@@derinclark3485 Yeah, you have to be careful what you accept if you're going to go toward a hotspot. I'm fortunate enough to have several hot spots within about 5 miles of each other so I can usually get an order by driving from one to the other. If that's not an option, then yeah, you gotta factor in whether the gas you're using is worth it.

It seems at any given point anyone can be deactivated. Are you considering wearing like a go pro camera to all deliveries. I watched another DD guy who does wear his go pro and when he got the notice that customer claimed he didnt deliver he narrowed it down to the possible customer sent the video to DD and got back rolling pretty quickly like in a day or two. I mean everytime you select handed it to customer or a customer has you hand it to them even though they put leave at door there's that risk. With UE if they select leave at door but then greet me and take the food, I'm like sorry need your pic with the food since you selected a no contact delivery UE rules that way no one scams they didnt get it on those. I propose that every customer is provided a code that DD gives them that the driver must enter into the app when handing to customer, if code is wrong then DD alerts driver wrong code, if it's right it then Mark's as delivered. If it's a bo contact order then we have the picture as proof at least food left. This would solve all the lying people from claiming they didnt get handed their delivery when they did. It's a real simple solution and something that easily could get added into the app and online when customers place orders.
