Fantastic use of the looping footage of the bottom turn - so useful, as opposed to just acres of footage of pro surfers ripping or similarly mind numbing so called tuition. I can feel myself internalising the moves required as a result. Thanks for such excellence. Now I’m going to watch it a few more times...

Awesome video. Really well broken down. Can’t wait till there’s a half decent wave around Cape Town to try this on.

Can you comment on the percentage of weight on each foot during the various phases of the turn? Thanks!
@SurfProgressionTechniques
@SurfProgressionTechniques 4 жыл бұрын
Hey SWK, thank you for the comment. I don't think I can give accurate percentages but I'd be happy to try and describe front foot vs. back foot pressure as you flow through a bottom turn to top turn. Starting from the top of the wave frontside with a good foot position on the board most of the pressure will be on your front foot to drive you down the wave face toward the trough. Then as you go to engage your bottom turn you put heavy toe pressure on your back foot toe rail directing the board back up the wave face. There is a slight front foot toe pressure but most will be on your back foot. As you begin to climb back up the wave face you will roll your back foot toe pressure to back foot heal pressure as you go to engage your top turn. Throughout both bottom turn and top turn processes your front foot acts as more of a guide with slight pressure distribution mimicking your back foot. I hope that makes sense. You can always email me at chapin@surfprotechniques.com and we can discuss further. Best wishes!

Is that Padang Padang?
@SurfProgressionTechniques
@SurfProgressionTechniques 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeremy, thanks for the question. I don't think it is. The rocks are to close and the trees are too far down the cliff. Padang's cliff is pretty sheer.

Is this the same on a long board?
@SurfProgressionTechniques
@SurfProgressionTechniques 5 жыл бұрын
Hey, thank you for your question. I'm not a skilled enough longboarder to answer this confidently. If you watch longboard clips it looks very similar but the foot placement and pressure on the board are a bit different. This video might help. Let me know if it does. :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWm0oKOpr76in5I
