Also, you can check these extra things easily if you have the ability to raise your car: - automatic transmission fluid level - steering rack dust covers - oil level - cabin filter - brake pad and/or rotor size - exhaust system condition (check for excessive rusting or leaks or damage) - lights (highs, lows, brakes, reverse, indicators) - spark plug condition

I used to work at a lube shop and you’re expected to get all of this done plus an oil change (and figuring out the oil change reset), hitting all grease points, and a tire rotation in 15 minutes and that starts when you grab the clipboard, not when you get the car pulled in. I think it’s doable but it wasn’t my cup of tea to work at such a fast pace so that’s part of the reason I left and I don’t know if I’ll ever do auto work professionally again unless it’s a quality over speed shop or if I’m doing my own gig.

definitely just a shop thing the shop i work at all i have to do is a road test where i check all the safety requirements the i pull it in and plug it in and run the emissions test all in about 20 mins so definitely seems like you’d be happy at a different shop

This is what I did when I was a Hood Tech at VT Quick Lube. We also checked lights. A VT State Inspection goes into much more detail, requires being hooked up to a State issued tablet for inspection stations, and a road test.

I'm in a class for basic maintenance and light repair. This is so useful I'm actually gonna study this so when I take my final (it's a vehicle check) I'm prepared. Thx

I was given an opportunity to do light motor vehicle inspection but I haven't the experience to do motor vehicle therefore I think this motor vehicle inspection tutorial will be helpful for me...

My car got rejected for emissions today but in 2 weeks my car will be 15 years old and doesn’t require inspection. Can I just wait to weeks bring it back without fixing it and get a passing sticker??

No checking engine oil level?
@DerelictDan696 жыл бұрын
That does not apply to safety inspections. In fact your vehicle can run like garbage but as long as it is mechanically sound and has no fluid or exhaust leaks and the brakes and e brake work you are good.
@gaz70516 жыл бұрын
Dankey Kang64 oh right didn’t know that, in the U.K. engine oil has to be checked as part of our MOT which is equivalent of your safety inspection

WTF is this?!? When I was an inspector, I scanned for codes, pulled the wheels, checked compression, inspected cylinders with a bore scope, measured paint thickness, analyzed electrical system... Does this guy charge for his "service"?
@phodacbitch2 жыл бұрын
SHouldnt you also check suspension?
@nofyfb1232 жыл бұрын
@@phodacbitch Of course! I did not mean to list everything - just a few examples.

@@nofyfb123 eh in my case, I had to do a full inspection on every single car that was assigned to me, free of charge. Even if the person was just in for a flat tire, it got an inspection. And what I had to check was even more in depth than this video, I was really hoping there would be something from this that I could learn from.
@nofyfb1232 жыл бұрын
Of course. I just outlined the depth of my inspections and did not list every single component. That's what the "..." part signifies.

Kudos for the Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Saankramer Vehicle Statement System (probably on Google)? It is a great one of a kind product for discovering how to get a vehicle history report minus the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my m8 got excellent results with it.
