Thank you so much. I have no critique...just thanks as I have been staring at Rita's book and skipping over this part with anxiety. So to me, this was one of the clearest break downs of finding the critical path ever. Now I can move forward!

So there are two methods of calculating forward/backward pass. One, with a task that starts with zero and the other one with -1.forward pass and +1 for backward pass. I prefer the one that starts with zero. I think it is more a methodical approach without remembering 2 formulas, at least good for beginners, less complicated and I am new in Project Management.

Great job on this video. Thank you very much for this clear visual example about how to calculate each step in the process. I'm taking a systems analysis and design class and the textbook does an awful job at explaining the critical path concept and calculation.

Excellent description. The only recommendation I would make is that it is somewhat repetitive once you have described the technique. You could go through the nodes a little quicker. Maybe review once, then twice, then just complete the rest of the diagram. But other than that, this really helped me understand the method.

I have a confusion in understanding at the last part of this video: while proceeding back pass, why E governs for late start as there states E starts at 4th day, and F starts at 7th day? Since Late start governs, so task which starts later, should govern, isn't it ? Again, in forward pass, at the last moment late finish governed between C=12 and G=14, isn't it? Where, the formula is for early finish. If feasible, please help me clear the confusion. Thank you, Off Peak Training.

day zero vs day one methods. Your 1st day can either be a zero or day 1. If its one, you need to subtract 1. Stick with day zero for 99% of all cases.

In general, a nice training video. But why does it not explain CPM's most "critical" metric, critical path drag -- both what it is and how to compute it? (You can find it in Wikipedia.)
@christalmont2732
@christalmont2732 8 жыл бұрын
Great question - this video was intended for PMP students (critical drag is not on the exam). We will explore this as a possible topic for a future video!
@stephendevaux9084
@stephendevaux9084 8 жыл бұрын
And great answer, Chris! Of course, it should be part of the PMP exam, as it is the most important metric for schedule compression. If you do add drag as a topic, please let me know and I'll be happy to help publicize your video -- the production values are very good!
