I went on the carnivore diet for only 2 weeks and it helped me immensely to control my sugar cravings. It was a good reset.

Dude that chocolate freezer thing drives me crazy.. my girl does the exact same thing & it makes me think I’m insane not being able to have that self control.

I inherited sugar addiction from both of my parents. None of them got diabetic till their deaths. I am extremely sugar addict and not diabetic so far at this age of 42. My younger brother has no sugar addiction but he has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. I am not defending sugar addiction, but good carbs from good whole foods are good. I mean fruits, veggies, wheat, rice, etc. Keto is not bad in itself, but it doesn't suit many people. All this is programmed in our physiology and neurological profiles. Some people can sustain keto in long run while others like me may suck at it.

I don't know you or your parents health at the time, but diabetes is only the last stage of the metabolic syndrome, if you want to know up to a decade before you can measure fasting insulin or c-peptide, if those are elevated you are on your way to diabetes and will definitely have problems before that. I am not a carbophobe, I think carbohydrates alone don't cause diabetes, probably, but you are right that you should always optimize nutrition to your body.

@@Gengh13 good suggestion, I shall check c-peptides next time, never done before, but fasting insulin remains under control when checked annually.

Did carnivore-ish for a couple months and after that sweet things tasted too sweet and I just ended up not wanting them. Also diet Pepsi helped to curb the sugar cravings, I know it's not great for you but used as a tool its great.
