Thank you, thank you, thank you. This has made a huge difference in how I shoot this season. Last season was the first time that I ever shot "high school" football and this video has helped tremendously. Again, THANK YOU

I been into photography for a very long time. While you claim your video is for mom and dad you make some great points on what to shoot.

I’m going to be using my Nikon P950 camera because I’m going to be in the stands taking pictures. I’ll be able to zoom in on the players with no problems. ❤❤❤

Lots of good info, thanks. Note that at 3:57 and at 4:02 I believe you mistakenly say ISO instead of shutter speed.

I was about to make the same comment. I sure he is talking shutter speed because when he was talking ISO previously it was in the 3200 to 6400 range. So when he began talking about 500, 640 and 800 I'm certain he was referring to shutter speed. Anyway, that is my reasoning just thought I would make the comment since it appears no one is actually responding to these.

New shooter here, I freaked out when I heard him say that. I thought I was way off. Thank you for the clarification.

Hi Vincent. Sounds like you and I both have very similar approaches in how we handle high school sports photography - particularly in how we structure our offerings (focus players vs overall team and also the online gallery workflow). I’m interested to know what your rates are and how your structure your pricing for the parents/teams when doing focus players vs overall team photography. I’ve recently gotten a number of gigs from parents wanting me to come out and shoot and I’ve found they are happy to pay for professional action photos of their players, so it’s been really great. But definitely interest to know how you go about pricing. Thanks!

A word about cropping from a graphic designer: if an image is going to a designer for inclusion in a publication or a website, Please don't crop it, it really limits what we can do with the photo.

This helped so much, I have a very nice camera, but never been in situations where lighting is bad. I plan on taking pics of my boyfriend at his fball games but had no idea what to do cause it’s low lighting. Hopefully I’ve got it

Great set of videos. How do you go about advertising the photos to the players and parents? I am looking at getting into doing photography for local HS sports but don't know the best way of letting parents and players know the photos I took exist and are available for purchase.

Shoot in RAW.... Easier to clean up the noise at high ISO.

Hey thanks for your info. I have a 5D Mark III but only have a 150-300mm lens 4/5.6 minimal F stop. Is it possible to take good pictures with this lens? I have not been able to. My images are always blurry even if I go up to 10,000 ISO

Hey Vincent for the time being if I don't have a 70-200mm lens would a 28 - 135 mm lens be okay until i get enough money to get one?

Vincent what about a 55-250mm lens would that work for the time being?

matt schilmoeller on a crop sensor body, that should be fine as long as either 1. Your lens has a higher aperture, like f/2.8 -or- 2. Your body performs well at higher ISO's. Like 8000 and up. Lower aperture lenses will limit your ability to stop the action if your body tops out at say 3200 like some have.

Hey thanks Vincent! Very good info. I am a portrait photog looking to mix in some local sports as well. I do have a question. I have a FX body that I use for my main and a DX for backup. I have a 70-200 2.8 that is my go to lens. Should I shoot with the FX (better ISO) and then crop in post, or shoot with the DX to get the closer field of view? I think the FX cropped might be cleaner, but shooting with the DX would be easier while I am actually shooting, as far as framing goes. Thanks for the video! I subscribed. Steve
