I have granite countertops in my 7000 sq ft home for 16 years and I never seal my granite, they look as beautiful as from day 1.

Hi, is it a dark or light granite? I really like this light granite but there are apprehensions abt light colour that stains are difficult to remove. Is that true?

Thank you for the informative video. We are currently remodeling our kitchen. I was set on quartz until we went to a stone yard. Now I am leaning towards granite. It is a little nerve wracking because it is such a big investment. I appreciate your honesty and how thorough your videos are.

This was very informative! I actually just ordered the granite for my new home today. We've always had Formica so I'm really excited for natural stone.

The problem is that the natural stone comes in only VERY boring colors!
@Mountainsongbird1Ай бұрын
@@Xingqiwu387I’ve seen several examples of Granite, Quartzite and some Fantasy Brown Marble now. I’d hardly call it boring. 🙂 Yesterday we went to look at some stone. We saw a gorgeous Star White Granite Countertop display. Also the man who was helping us took us into his office to get our information and we were awestruck at his quartzite desk. I don’t know if I could get any work done if I were him. I’d be afraid at being too mesmerized by the amazing, beautiful patterns all day! The desk seemed to have layers and depth to it and amazing color variations!

@@Mountainsongbird1 None of them compare to the beauty of PaperStone. It's not even close.

What you said about Soapstone is correct, it scratches if you look at it funny. It's super simple to refinish though. A negative to quartz is that when it chips (and it does chip) it's harder for the stone repair to blend in. Granite and marble chip repairs are much easier to make hard to find.

Hey Sarah, was wondering, where did your tile backsplash come from and what is it called? I know it’s a type of subway tile. It’s very pretty!

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! Can you tell me the distance between the fridge and stove and does it affect the functions of either one. Also the distance between the island and the sink-side counter top? This is so much like the ideas I have in mind for my kitchen remodel. Again, just beautiful!!!😊

Yes, granite is a natural stone and it is quite durable, however, it is NOT harder/stronger than quartz (thanks to its polymer resins). Unlike quartz, granite is porous and bacteria could develop, and it can be susceptible to staining, unlike quartz. I have a food catering business at my home and my kitchen is a real workhorse, so I wanted the strongest countertop material I could find with the lowest maintenance, and that turned out be quartz.

Great video. Fortunately near us there is lots of granite and quartz available for much cheaper than your estimates. We just reserved arctic white granite for $22 a sq ft, plus $15 a square foot for install and five year sealer. Can't wait for them to be installed.

Wow I'm jealous. Quartz around here range from $55-$95 per sqft. That being said my wife found an island for sale on market place for $100, 32sqft. I did have to pick it up, cut it to our length, and polish the edges. But well worth then $100. Luckily I polish concrete floors, so I already had the pads and didn't spend the money

I've recently heard multiple horror stories about white quartz countertops staining permanently from things like wine and water. Do you have any experience with this or any thoughts about it?

@@GraceInMySpace I mean is there a reason you didn’t go with Quartz to match the rest of your countertops. I have granite in my kitchen, however I feel that it doesn’t quite match as much as a quartz will. My cabinets are white and island is gray and it seats 6 people. My current granite has a beige base with busy pattern of gray beige and brown. I don’t believe that combination of colors compliments my kitchen colors and I am in the process of choosing either a quartz or granite with white base color. I was told white cashmere might work. I just think the granite is normally so busy. I’m still undecided as to what to choose. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have to weigh in here. I completely disagree with your description about quartz being stain and chip resistant…… I’ve had quartz counter tops for 4 years. I’m very fussy about cleanliness and workability for my kitchen because I actually cook and bake and do all the things. I CANNOT STAND QUARTZ. It chipped but thankfully didn’t crack. You must keep an eye on maintenance for quartz big time! It stains very easily! No exaggeration- it clouds up and you can see stains easily! It’s never ending! I finally figured out how to clean it properly: microfiber, warm water, a few drops of Dawn dish soap and Barkeepers Friend liquid. In circular motion apply to area. You must rinse thoroughly- cannot avoid this. Then dry with another microfiber cloth. Shiny, stains and uneven tones are gone! I had granite in our previous home. Easy peasy washed it several times throughout the day-- never an issue! Never again quartz- yuck!,
