It's normal in Jamaica. Not unusual for children to start cooking at this age. I don't understand why adults in the (so called 1st world) feel they must prevent children from learning life skills. Examples, handling knives, cooking on an open fire, darning socks ,replacing buttons, ironing clothes, cleaning house. As my parents would say when I would complain about having chores, "why yu tink say we did ah have unnu fah? Fi werk (Why do you think we had you? To work) LOL. No allowance either.
