Another great lesson from Simon. Having things broken down into steps makes a huge difference. It can't get too basic for me. I had never heard before that picking direction should go in the direction of the next string to be picked. I'd just been using alternate picking. Inefficient.

I like the last part very much, that’s pretty much how I play but I really want to add some chordal licks up the neck for the finger picking parts, not all just sometimes.

This is not exactly same time. I can strum and play melody and sing said melody all at the same time, and I can do so using tremolo. But noone, I mean noone, is willing to show me a reference exactly how good to get. I understand, you are a pick player, I am frustrated, searching and finding nothing. There are multiple videos like yours, this isn't your fault at all. I see you teach new players and that is very valuable. I didn't have such oportunity and learned everything based off piano I used to play.

Hi Terry! Glad you liked the lesson :) It sounds like you may be referring to chord/melody playing and things related to this style. I have the following videos that relate to this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJ27Y4iOpLZ8jc0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKLIiHiXrZJ7mbc kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZWnaJ57fb6Kibc Is this the kind of thing you are talking about Terry?

Great video but could you recommend a handful of known songs that uses this chordal strum and pick? It is easier to keep working on this if I at the same time learn to play another song.
@acousticguitarlessons
@acousticguitarlessons Жыл бұрын
Hotel California, Sweet Home Alabama, House Of The Rising Sun, Aint No Sunshine, Knocking On Heavens Door, Everybody Hurts . . . Many songs use combinations of strumming and picking in varied ways :)

@@acousticguitarlessons Thx. I will start practicing those songs right away. Plain exercise or drilling over and over I can never do for more then a minute or two before my mind starts wondering and I loose focus. Learning actual songs that uses what I try to learn give me an end goal and I can easily listen to my own progression and how har or easy it is to learn it.

Haha! Yes my thumbnail can get long :) I think I just make sure the nail doesn’t extend past the edge of the pic to stop it interfering
