How to pick the right CEO

While each co-founder has a unique set of strengths, a company ultimately needs one decision maker - but how should a founding team decide who amongst them becomes CEO?

I have a couple of examples where co-ceo model failed because there was no one decision makers. I think it should be made clear outrightly in the early days of formation that whose final call will be applicable to all and that person should be CEO with selling abilities.
