Good info - thanks. Another reason for skipping the expense of hemostatic gauze is that they expire. For those of us who are not Combat Medics/EMTs, we build a kit that we may not use for years but still need to count on in an emergency. How much effectiveness is lost on hemostatic gauze after expiration?

I honestly transitioned over to these options as i couldn't justify spending the money on hemostatics because they keep expiring. I did however save the expired ones and left them in my bag. Figure worse case scenario its more packing gauze, best case scenario it retains some of its hemostatic functions and surprises the hell out of me. Im a big fan of the compressed gauzes especially for the price. While i have not had to use them, i have practiced on a pork foot to get a rhythm dowm

What does crinkle gauze look like? How is it different from z and s rolled gauze?

So, ...if i have quick clot and other more expensive options....is that my first choice? Which is a better go to ??

Would you knot the very end of the gauze before you begin packing? To put additional pressure at the arterial point?
