Lots of respecteds reviewer have demonstrated on youtube that it DOES make a difference. For example a grinder using 2AH vs 6AH, all of those reviewers noticed a difference.

I get the "same" 18V, but it's been proven the higher Amp Hour batteries do have more power behind them when the lower ones just bog down.

Obviously you never herd of voltage sag under load... That and C ratings on the individual cells inside these battery packs. Even if you could pull the same wattage there is no way you can match the heat dispersion on the larger battery. Due to increased surface area. And trust me these batteries get hot especially when pulling 40amps which is about 2.5C out of the Max recommended of 3C on a 4ah battery.

There are an awful lot of comparison videos testing performance between the higher amp-hour batteries even within the high capacity lines. So, my question would be: where are you getting your information to suggest that tools are not performing any differently when using the same class of battery? The evidence suggests otherwise.

Exactly the question I came to ask. Spent no time talking the why he thinks the reason is or any technical reasons. Just a glancing comment and then the rest of the video is explaining the one pro of a smaller battery? Which I don’t understand needed a whole demonstration when he could have just said “if it matters to you the center of gravity could be off on smaller tools “

@@jeffglover6292 Volts * amps = power. Bigger battery can give more amps than the smaller one. You will not notice the difference in the power of a lamp or a grass trimmer, but for high-powered devices such as a impact driver the difference is significant.

It’s not that a bigger battery is going to give a tool more power it’s the fact that because it’s a bigger battery with more cells in it. It doesn’t have to work as hard to give the same performance that a small would need to do. Better power efficiency means the tool is gonna work better.

Give or take, that is absolutely correct!
@kartboarder22g17
@kartboarder22g17 2 жыл бұрын
This is true that the battery doesn't have to work as hard. Yet it really comes to voltage drop, when you have a high load tool, like saws per say the voltage drop comes into play as the current is pulled. Larger pack means less voltage drop and therefore higher power output. Power is V times current, so less voltage drop and ability to maximize the current output means more power. So like he said a smaller battery does work best in my opinion for drills, drivers, etc. Otherwise you want a larger battery.

Sorry, but you're wrong about opening statement about performance being the same because 18V = 18V. If you're only powering a flashlight, sure, they'll be the same performance. But with a high load, there's more voltage drop on a smaller battery, so the tool only gets maybe 18-19 volts on a freshly charged battery. A full big battery has less internal resistance and will maintain 20 volts, which boosts tool performance. I have noticed this without a doubt IRL. All you need to do is use the tools hard to decide you'll never use the 5cell battery again!

Unfortunately, he's wrong. Larger batteries will last longer (more than the maths will tell you) and live longer because they're working less. Smaller batteries still have their uses though, they're lighter, smaller, charge faster and fine for light work

Great information. I would like to see this kind of comparison with Ryobi’s inverters. I have many Ryobi tools, with that come many various sized batteries. I have almost all of the inverters that Ryobi offers. Would love to have a better idea of how the batteries do in the inverters. Thanks

I was giving a Ryobi weed Wacker. It has a battery and a charger for the 18v. I must have an old style battery and charger cause neither tells me how much juice it has. It just has indicators of charging and charged. One charger indicated full charge I then used the battery to only getting 10 min into my trimming and battery went dead. I'm having second thoughts about getting another Ryobi.

Tim from Canada I would like to clarify some stuff right here right now you were going to get a longer running time if you are using a higher powered battery then a lower powered battery let me give you an example... when the summertime comes in they have to go out and use my leaf blower that is run by a Ryobi battery they give me a shitty 2.0Ah battery that last not even 10 minutes on high when I use my leaf blower which is a bunch of bullshit so I went out and I bought A ...4Ah battery just gives me the power to go 25 minutes even still if I want to get a job done I need at least three batteries for a full hour... do not get me started when I use the Weedwhacker this two runs on Ryobi batteries...The worst thing about this is the cheapest battery is the 2.0 and it cost almost $100 in Canada for the shitty battery do you not know why stuff in Canada is so expensive Ryobi brand is the most expensive when you were buying batteries.. so this is my review. Do not let this guy tell you bullshit.. The higher up you go ..4.0AH batteries in a higher going to give you a longer run time and then when you use this shitty 2.0.. and here is another thing if people are spending more than $150 on Ryobi drill kits do us a favour put at least a 4.0 amp battery in this fucking deal I can tell you right now any kids you buy in Canada are over priced and you get the shittiest battery if you can stuff in Canada has gone up 75% since COVID-19 hit. If they telling you different when you move to Canada come to Home Depot trying to find tools it is damn near fucking impossible the tool selections now at the Home Depot’s are very scarce... you do not get the selections that you would get in USA... and you do not get the prices that you do in USA.. for example Ryobi has 4 tool kits 1,4.0Ah battery,...2.0 battery for tools before COVID-19.....$199 Canadian now $299 Canadian or even a higher Canada is the most expensive country in the world to buy battery power tools in the Ryobi brand is supposed to be the handyman to this is bullshit it is the handyman to with the pro tool price....This is my review read the silver go to Home Depot.ca this is a Canadian website try to find a Ryobi tools in the store damn near impossible because the Home Depot’s have it so tools are out of stock or not listed in the stores anymore can I buy them on the website website.. this is my review read this over go to Home Depot‘s.ca this is a Canadian website try to find a Ryobi tools in the store damn near impossible because the Home Depot‘s have it so tools are out of stock or not listed in the stores anymore can I buy them on the website.. and here’s another thing for Home Depot in RYOBI Tools if some thing is not on the shelf don’t you think it would be smart to fucking order something put it back on the shelf if someone goes into the store looking for something and you do not have it with you to Quito friend... because serious stuff I am looking for They tell me it is not in stock they will not ship it to her anywhere no longer available if something is not available and someone is asking for it fucking order it make sure the people that want to can get it but no you’re only reason there is to make the money and you make sure that people are getting screwed over left and right ever since cover 19 come in this is what Home Depot’s have been doing in Canada they tell me it is not in stock they will not ship it to anywhere no longer available if something is not available and someone is asking for it fucking order it make sure the people that want to can get it but no your only reason there is to make the money and you make sure that people are getting screwed over left and right ever since COVID-19 come in this is what Home Depot has ever been doing in Canada..Once again this is my review.

How big would a solar have to be to to charge a Ryobi battery via an inverter. ie. off the grid application.
@Weekendhandyman
@Weekendhandyman 2 жыл бұрын
You would need panels feeding a 12 volt system, into a battery and inverter to run your charger.. there could be other ways, but the way I am suggesting would keep voltage spike and dip issues out of the system. There are 12 volt chargers for many of our favorite batteries now and going from the solar panel to a 12 volt storage unit, then to the 12 volt charger to your batter could also be an option.

How many watts do the chargers use? Going to try to charge these batteries with a 12v power inverter. What is the minimum watts needed from an inverter? For example, charging a battery via your vehicle's 12 volt system.

37s in including intro and you've already demonstrated you do not know how it works in the real world. I'm gonna move on. For anyone who is unsure, larger batteries have cells in parallel. This means at the very least, they're sharing the load 50% each and therefore have less voltage sag, which equals better runtime (so a 4ah can potentially run more than double that a 2ah can) For very high current tools this also means the larger batteries are working less hard and so run cooler, will live longer and can deliver the peak power for longer.
