Hello, I bought a Christmas arrangement with a young Hyacinth in it. Now the root and white flower’ s tips have turned brown. The bulb is not below soit by the way. Can this plant recover? I am currently in the French Riviera and in an apartment that’s 74 dégrées. My husband likes the apartment warm. Also, we are back in the US in a few weeks and won’t be around for 3 months. By the way, I like your jacket. Will you please give me brand name and style.

Hi there! The jacket is actually just from Target :) But I got it last year, so I doubt they have the same one right now. Maybe when you're in the states you can do some browsing! As for the hyacinth, it's tricky not knowing the exact conditions it's in-but I think you could definitely try to save the bulb to replant. I would recommend letting the flower and foliage die off completely in a sunny spot. While the leaves are dying, they are gathering energy from the sun to store in the bulb for next year's growth. Then when everything is brown, trim the dead foliage off and store the bulb in a cool, dry place. You can try to force it indoors again next winter, or you could try planting outdoors in the fall if the location you're in gets a long enough period of cold during the winter. Hyacinth bulbs need about 3 months of temps around 40-45ish F to bloom in the spring. I don't have experience forcing hyacinth bulbs by cooling them in the fridge because it gets quite cold where I'm at, but you might want to look into that if your temperatures don't get low enough for long enough. Good luck!
