love the Fat's quote. Nicely played. Also great that you mentioned all those wonderful players : Watson, Fats , Ronnie-- and guys like Alex Schultz, Rick Holmstrom also. Guys that play with subtlety and finesse . Blues can sometimes be very much in the wailing guitars solo , which is fine for some , but slightly tedious to others. Like me. Thank you for this much needed lesson.

I've seen Ronnie Earl many times throughout the years, and Hollywood Fats blows me away ( I was delighted to hear you play a sample of his which I had taught myself before). I'm listening to a lot of of Jr. Watson, who I'm glad you also featured. Another great one to be heard is Duke Robillard who I will get to see at the end of March. Loved the video.. tons of T-bone influence in all those players, especially Ronnie Earl. Any update on the video of developing the rhythm aspect of your lead playing? Maybe looking at one particular phrase and how it can be altered rhythmically to fit over a shuffle, funk, slow blues, etc? It was well receive the last time I commented.. would love to see you talk about it!

Dear Jack, could you comment on two things: 1. In the Hollywood Fats solo on the IV chord (fifth bar, chord D) the melody pattern starts with the note G that is strongly accented. But the note G is not in the D chord. Can you explain the context and why that G-note works so well here? 1. I think there is a I-VI-II-V turnaround in the last 4 bars of Rock This House. How do you deal with that when improvising? Arpeggios, or perhaps going to the A-major scale? Best, Lukasz
@rccarsandmusic26412 жыл бұрын
Tomo, JACK that’s the Soul scale, 3 versions, full, Major, and Minor
