This video is great. I like how you clap out the rhythm on sticks then really slow it down.

Just found your channel off my suggested feed, good stuff! I see you’ve done some lessons on particular drummers… you should do one on Refused’s David Sandstrom. His drumming on the albums Songs To Fan the Flames and The Shape of Punk To Come is on another level

I really hate punk rock drum beats. Any suggestions on how to play something else in place of the punk rock beat while being in a pop punk band that requires you to play fast or is there no getting around it?

Hmm, thats a really good question... I think some punk pop drummers can be very creative in how they play the genre... For example, I think the drummer of Angels and Airwaves has been incredibly creative... I think listening to other drummers can help expand your ideas and help you find the sounds you are looking for. I remember hearing the story of Jordan from Strung Out who listened to 'Rush' and was blown away by the drumming. He ended up adopting and combining the elements of this into his playing with Strung Out and became one of the greatest and innovative drummers in the genre.
