You have no idea how much I truly appreciate you providing this amazing tutorial! I play keys but I’ve always played by ear. Guess I never really sat down to try and nail this solo. But thanks to your detailed, yet, easy to follow tutorial on the solo part of “Africa”, I’ve got it covered. Thank you sooooo much for this! I am now a subscriber. Im a huge fan of Toto. Can’t wait to see what else you have! Cheers! 😊

Again, thanky kindly. I'll be doing all right hand single notes, using a flute, with the marimba transposed down 4 steps on the other layer. Or maybe the other way around, haven't gotten to that part yet!!! Oh, and I'm transposing all this down a half; I have a headache, lol.
@derekbaker32793 жыл бұрын
I think you are correct, because I think David just used his right hand for the solo & comps some chords with the left hand...

This is so cool,saw a girl just today play this on on a regular upright piano,she played bass in left hand and the solo with right hand but seemed to hit All the notes you played with one hand,it sounded right anyway.

Dude - So awesome and so clearly taught. Thanks! How do you like the Nektar? I bought one this past spring break and have appreciated the weight compared to my 88 key weighted Fantom! Also the fact that it is bus powered for even working with iOS is amazing!

Are you layering a flute and Marimba for this part?
@How2PlayMusic3 жыл бұрын
Yes I am. The original has just flute for the first part but for teaching purposes I used the layer all the way through.

You can always use the KZbin slow down tool, and it's good to make sure you know each part before continuing to take in the followings parts.

Good video, but you teach many wrong notes (right hand). Don't try to say im wrong, you just don't know how to exactly play this solo. Fingers that you use is not optimal to play easy. i've been playing keyboards for 23 years and i hear what's correct notes
