Another combo worth knowing: E flash can be used to charm at an angle. So you click on an enemy champion or where you think they're going, then immediately flash in a different direction. This will make the charm appear from where you flashed to and will go towards the original target location. This is a bit niche but can be useful if the enemy is in kill range but is hiding behind minions for example

I wish when people made guides for League, instead of saying “You might want to buy *insert random item* against a match-up like Syndra” they instead explained in what situation you'd want to build that specific item. I understand that saying “against Syndra” is when you'd do it, but there are likely many more match-ups, and knowing the situation in which you should buy the item would help me apply it so much more.

This is probably just a case of I've explained it so many times that it sorta becomes natural for me just skip over it. For merc treads they are strong if you need the combination of both tenacity + MR + movespeed which is really good against champions that have a combination of AP CC and skillshots. E.g. Zoe, Syndra, Lissandra etc

The reason they’re saying things like “for syndra, for yas, etc” comes down to the fact that champs like syndra and yasuo are the archetypal champions in their catgory. Yasuo is THE ad melee midlaner, so itms easuer to shorthand “ad melee champions” to “yasuo”

imo cryptbloom is pretty much always better since the ability haste is very valuable, and generally ahri isn't meant to kill full MR tanks (so your targets won't have huge amounts of MR anyway)

You can also e+q and than flash. Doesnt change much but you can flash in both spells with 1 flash. Also you can charm and than ult to hide your charm a bit. But overall i dont use this techs. Maybe in 1 out of 50 games^^ Nice guide as always.

Been spamming Ahri in solo queue, took me from low emerald to diamond on a 58% overall wr this split. Honestly kinda surprised to see my permaban marked as an easy matchup - honestly feels like whenever I play against a naafiri, I can build up a multiple level 1000g+ lead and then they start dropping waves to run around the map and pick up random soloq kills, buy an edge of night, and suddenly I'm not allowed to be within 3 screens of them without getting ran down and killed under 3rd tower when they still haven't taken the 1st.

Great guide, Shok! Could you elaborate on how to use the minion dematerializer? I’m a midlane noob, and I usually just use them on canons when I want to push quick. You mentioned using it on ranged minions during the rune section, but you didn’t say anything about it during the laning section.

Minion demat increases the damage dealt to that creep type, so for Ahri using 3 demats on the ranged creeps can allow you to kill the ranged creeps with 1 Q a level earlier than you would normally. Using them on cannons to push quickly can be useful sometimes tho so keep that in mind too!

Hey. This guide is genuinely helpful as a fellow Ahri main who started maining her since November the last year with a great deal of insight from the runes to the matches and every aspect of the game. I would like to ask your thoughts on the rune arcane comet on Ahri what is your personal opinion and how much do you benefit from it, especially vs long-ranged champions and matches, where you wouldn't like to risk to go nearby to attack them (for an example, like taking electrocute vs Lux or Orianna, where they would outzone you if you don't bait their skillshots and risk being chunked and not successfully proccing the electro or attempting to proc it) and rather proc the rune from a safe range? And my other question is what is the benefit for Ahri to be taken as a first bonus stat rune attack speed instead of 9 AP? Isn't it better to have more AP for the butterfly effect and being capable of one-shotting waves as soon as you have maxed your Q and have bought a lost chapter and dealing more damage?

imo comet isn't that great because you are going to have a hard time procing it consistently and also have no slow to help guarantee it hitting (obviously if you charm someone that's great, but then electrocute probably does more dmg anyway). Electrocute can be really nice vs Lux and Ori for the taste of blood to help lane and then the electrocute proc is good in the skirmishes. I think if you wanted the strongest setup possible vs Lux/Ori you would probably want either Aery resolve or Aery domination (and just take the healing runes). Extra AP is really nice if you can get away with it, in high elo though a lot of the time the mid laner with more attack speed gets priority over the wave because they get more auto attacks off. If you know you're getting prio no matter what though then double AP is good I think!

I don't understand the point in triple tonic? Can someone pls explain? How is 60s of dmg, 60s of minion damage, 40g and a skill point better than free boots (300g)?

Because in some matchups you want boots very early and with free boots rune you are forced to wait

A skill point (depending on champ) can be worth a lot of gold, but as the other comment says sometimes you need boots for skillshot matchups

Normally I go aery with manaflow, transcendence, scorch + cutdown and haste or PoM and haste. These days I don't really run electrocute much because the minor runes in the blue and yellow trees are too OP

you can also E>Q>Flash but its very hard to do and not really worth the effort since you can free Q after landing the E anyways you can also do any E and or Q ult instead of flash to mask the casts though.... in the thousands of ahri games I have played I have only used it one or two times. but it's a nifty tech.

Not really a fan of W first, it can maybe be used if you really want to hard bully a melee lane but you're better off playing a different champion if that's your goal. Pushing and moving is what makes Ahri OP.

This is from a bronze player, so I'm not far from where you are now. Try a bunch of champs and have fun learning the game and what champions are out on the rift with you. Once you understand the controls and champs you will be in a good spot to learn and apply the fundamentals in games :). I didn't do it that way, I got roped into games with emerald and plat mmr games with my friends and if I had to learn again that is how I would do it.

Right now I'm playing Mid/Jungle since I need to fill two roles and now I'm having more win with Jungle roles. I think I improved a lot and I'm doing great. But when I play mid lane, I lost focus and my tempo drops a lot in mid games. I were thinking I must do something when it's around 15 mins. but since I don't know what is the right decision, I got messed up until the real big team fights start to happen.

Void is just inferior to Cryptbloom on Ahri because it doesn't give any CDR. Shadowflame can maybe be good if you're solo AP but I think lich bane is just better overall.

About itemization on Mages: is Rabbadon a must in every build? I tend to pay attention to team comps and I tend to build utility but I always have the same doubt. For example, if I already bought a Landry's and anti healing but I feel like I am not dealing that much damage because two guys on the enemy team have 1 MR item. Should I go magic pen next or Rabbadon? Is It worth to make a full build including m pen and leaving Rabbadon out of it?

Pretty much yes, I'm going to make a video on ap itemization because it's very confusing. Normally you want rabadons ideally in your first 3 items, at the latest in your first 4 items. So if you know you're gonna need % magic pen early, you could go Malignance > Dcap > Cryptbloom or if they have MR super early you could go Malignance > Cryptbloom > Dcap. If you already went a second item (say liandry) you could do Malignance > Liandry > Cryptbloom (if you need the pen) > Dcap but this isn't ideal, it's more because you didn't realize in time that you would need the cryptbloom earlier. Lemme know if that makes sense, I am gonna make a longer video though!

Hey Shok, I was just wondering why you recommend buying Sorcs if you are the only AP, but not if there’s multiple AP. I always thought it was the opposite… If the enemy team is stacking MR, wouldn’t you want the additional Magic Pen?

The TLDR is flat magic pen is good against targets with low MR, and % magic pen is good against targets with high MR. Your sorc shoes (18 flat mpen) is very good against someone with 40 MR (40-18 = 22) whereas the 18 flat magic pen against someone with 200 MR (200-18 = 182) is not very effective.

Shok, I'm curious on why you put Taliyah as an "easy" matchup. I find myself struggling against her and find I am losing push on the waves, and then can't match roams with her TP+R. If I try to pressure her with poke/damage, her E causes a lot of threat. Any thoughts? Thanks

imo you should be able to match the waveclear post 6 and if she commits too many abilities onto the wave you may find a window to all in. It could be that you're falling too far behind pre 6 or maybe not taking advantage of her cooldowns early in the lane?

Because she can use E preemptively to deny Ahri's flanks, Ahri cannot dash in for a few seconds allowing Taliyah's team to kill one or multiple targets. No need to stun Ahri if she doesn't come.

Her E ends up being so low cooldown that it can just be spammed out non stop. Also Taliyah scales incredibly well and Ahri isn't very good at punishing the lane, just neutralizing it.

Cryptbloom is just better than void on Ahri because the CDR is more valuable. Malignance is much much better than Luden's every single game, stormsurge got nerfed into the ground so it isn't really worth building. Shadowflame could maybe be good as solo AP but I think lich bane is just better if you want damage.

imo you can just spam push him in for the entire early game which should allow you to get 1-2 roams or invades off + deeper vision. He's also pretty gankable and weak in skirmishes so you should win fights around mid early. You can also just take first strike for a bit more scaling since he can't punish at all

It's alright, I probably should have included it. The nice thing about Liandry is it'll extend the window you have to get ulti charges refunded from people, but I don't really like it because Ahri kinda sucks at killing tanks anyway and it has no CDR on it anymore

Flat pen is good against low amounts of MR but bad against high amounts of MR. For example, if your opponent only has 40 MR, 40-18 (from sorcs) = 22 which is cutting their MR almost in half. If they have 100 MR, 100-18 is pretty negligible and % pen from cryptbloom or void staff will be more effective, especially as the MR gets even higher.

Arround 8mins you say its bad to buy sorc boots if the enemie team is stacking magic resistance. Is it not exactly the point where you should buy items that give you magic penetration? Sounded really weird and idk the math behind it in this game.

It's not communicated very well, but flat magic pen (like sorcs) is ideal against targets with low MR, whereas % magic pen (void staff, crypt, abyssal mask) is better against targets with high MR. If you have a target with 100 magic resist, the 15 flat reduction from sorcs is fairly mediocre but the % pen will reduce far more.

Lucidity/Sorcs are just situational and dependent on how much gold you base on. Malignance is definitely the default yeah. 2nd item is just situational as well, Liandry can be good vs tanks but Lich bane/horizon is played a lot too

Noob question: Why are sorcs less valuable the more MR the enemy team has? Aren't sorcs meant to shred MR giving you more value? I'm sure there is a simple reason im missing just was curious

I explain it more indepth in my itemization guide, but the TLDR is that if your target has low MR e.g. 40, then reducing this by 15 is a significant reduction. If your opponent has 200 MR, reducing this by 15 doesn't do much and you'd be better off with % pen

Hasn't changed much, you normally just go either cosmic + biscuits secondary if you're going elec (or sorc transcendence if you prefer). If you're going first strike primary then you can take triple tonic instead

It sucks when you already do everything a guide says and have been playing since season one but still hard silver 😂😭. Like I go 15/3 as Ahri constantly and I go off as Leblanc but still manage to lose, almost considering coaching .

I liked the video but it feels weird for you to present the abilities after build and runes. I feel that we need to know the abilities so we can understand why runes synergies or not, same with the build. Thats how i feel anyway ! But otherwise, very informative.
