Wow! Alex .. I had no idea what a great singing voice you have! Thanks for this tutorial hun. I will give it a go later. Happy Father's Day to you!

I love the dubbing of an Em7 as a “sexy E minor”! I think more tutors should adopt a similar nomenclature

Thanks Alex. Love that song, was very pleased to find that's you'd done a lesson for it. Your voice really works well for that! And it's a simple enough version that I think I can learn it.

Been on vacation for a few days and missed the release of this one... nice surprise to come home to though. The way you teach really works for me... love the easy version hard version approach. I can't wait for that fingerstyle course.

Love this man, going to need some more Mayer covers if possible. It’s tough to transpose his playing onto a uke but your gravity tutorial was so well done, looking forward to more
@UkesWithAlex3 жыл бұрын
I have toyed with a few John Mayer songs on the uke but never seriously... slow dancing would be a good one if you move it up a semitone to Dm and New Light is probably quite straightforward. What kind of songs do you think would work on uke, I'm interested to hear in case it gets the old brain going. 😅

Love this video and your teaching style. Great voice ! I do have a question / comment . I know you are left handed, however this video initially appears that you are playing with a right hand set up and playing right handed. I noticed you headstock logo is backwards. I say all this to tell you that as a right handed player this made it much easier for me to process. THANK YOU !!!

Hey Alex! Love your videos! I was wondering if you'll do any ukulele tutorials with a usual ukulele G rather than the low G? I really want to try some of these but when I tune my ukulele to a low g it is too lose to play. Really appreciate any thoughts or assistance 😊
@UkesWithAlex3 жыл бұрын
I recommend trying a specific low g string as tuning your high G string down an octave won't work. A Fremont soloist usually fits without needing to widen the nut slot. I love that you love the videos.

It's a Hawaiian mango body. The model is the Kanile'a Manako
@ericgray24852 жыл бұрын
@@UkesWithAlex Alex how would you compare the sound of the manako to the Uli? There is a big price difference.
@UkesWithAlex2 жыл бұрын
The Kanile'a is the better instrument... bigger, bolder, cleaner, more precise. However, the Uli is in my opinion as good as anything upto about £1300. I sold my Kanile'a SUS-T once I tried the Uli because I felt that the Uli had a really special sound. Its one of the most expressive instruments to fingerpick I've ever played and the Uli has been the instrument I have player in restaurants etc every week for the past year. My financial situation changed recently and I sold several ukes, I never considered selling the Uli.

Sounds great. I like the chords used. It seems you're doing some fancier things and maybe a couple other chords you didn't mention here and there? Do you have a chord chart?

Sorry I don't.

Sounds amazing! Could you explain how you're getting that sound? Is that a tenor uke, do you have a different string setup? Awesome voice. Thanks Also, what happened to the advanced version?

Hiya, I play a Kanile'a Manako Tenor strung with my own ukes with alex low g strings. The advanced tutorial is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p52VhIKGi7RsfK8 Thanks for your kind words of encouragement

Hi Alex, great hit.. I would like changing my Uluru strings, why not testing in Low G ? What's strings on your Kanilea ? And why not, ainsi on SUS shop... Thank you. Eric
@UkesWithAlex3 жыл бұрын
I am playing my own custom set of Rotosound strings that I will be launching soon. I use whatever the factory strings are for the SUS demos and most of them come to us high G. We have literally 50 different low G sets on the SUS website so I'm not sure I understand your question. Perhaps send me an email to the shop at alex@ukulele.co.uk

I've been strumming daily for 2 years now but my skill hasn't advanced in a long time. I really want to be able to do this kind of thing...but don't know where to start. There's some step between where I'm at and this that I'm missing.
@UkesWithAlex2 жыл бұрын
My advice as someone that has had lots of students move from beginners to advanced is that there isn't necessarily a set course of steps for everyone to take... I recommend taking a piece like this and just practicing the first section daily until you get there, then the next section then the next and when you come to play other intermediate pieces you will have filled in more blanks in your own playing than you realise. Good luck!
@altviooltom3 жыл бұрын
Ps the lesson is nice too , but why hide being a 'lefty'? The Kanilea logo gives it away ;-)
@UkesWithAlex3 жыл бұрын
I'm not hiding anything... I have made tutorials without reversing the video and spent months looking at comments from people saying they couldn't follow it I've had the same experiences as a teacher where occasionally a student preferred I record on a phone in selfie mode so the video was reversed. Also, I'm going to be launching paid tutorial content very soon and I'd rather it was accessible to the 99% of players out there than the 1%... I hope that clears it up 👌
@altviooltom3 жыл бұрын
@@UkesWithAlex no problem, I just thought you left inverted selfie mode on by accident 😉 you are right that it will look more familiar to most adult learners this way. The accessibility is a really good point!
