green knight NPC story: in the feywild, our watchers paladin used "abjure the extraplanar", despite him being the foreigner. a fey paladin saw it, and offered a green-knight-ish game: "If I defeat you in a duel, you must take my oath (replacing oath of watchers), but if you defeat me, then i will take yours. (yoink! no more oath powers!)"

I started writing up a character that I think is pretty interesting and unique; a Warforged Ancients Paladin. I know it sounds odd but rather than this Warforged being like the Warforged that we know, I wanted it to be more of like a prototype or precursor to what modern Warforged are. Maybe as civilization was forming there was a druid who enchanted a seed or tree to grow into a sentient being with the sole purpose of protecting all things light and natural after the druid passes away. I haven't had the chance to play this character but I imagine it would be really fun to roleplay and would obviously be strong (which honestly isn't super important to me in all honesty).

I’ve had an idea for a “paladin of the god of alcohol” for a while. (Typically I say Dionysus just because he’s the most commonly known example.) Leaning toward a Don Quixote-type-exclusively for the name Sir Veza-and at first I thought Devotion was the best-fitting subclass. But I switched to Ancients when I realized one of his battle cries HAS to be “For the vine!”
@jm.5194 ай бұрын
This is my favorite subclass of paladin. This subclass also gets misty step too, which is also ripe for flavor as well.

Our game's Oath of the Ancients pally, after 90 sessions, has become the Dryad of Autum for our world. Its a pretty cool Oath to go with.

What if instead of being the green knight, Gawain was the paladin and the green knight was the patron? Could be kinda neat to play a character who's preparing themself for their fated day in one year

@@keenirr5332 depends what you mean by law. laws of physics? no. "laws" as in "expected or compelled behavior"?? Ohh yeah. Those change alllllll the time. The meaning of those kind of laws is entirely up to the one enforcing it.

@keenirr53324 ай бұрын
I suspect the nicking of Gowin (thats how the name sounds to my ears) /Gawain was because the Green Knight didn't want it to be any more lethal to the human, than the beheading was to the Knight. Now you've got me wondering: I *assume* that the Green Knight was loyal to Titania or one of her loyalists...so for a Green Knight loyal to the Queen Of Air And Darkness, would such a knight use ferns, mosses, and night-blooming flowers - or lean into the Spore Druids' territory in terms of power and appearance?
@feywildfiend4 ай бұрын
I actually hadn't considered that angle, but equal trade would dictate that he knows a human couldn't recover from a beheading, even if that was the human's intention for him!

my oath of ancients' Wild Hunt eladrin (dex build) rides an ostrich, also drawing from horse acrobats (and 40k's dark eldar practice of hanging off the side of their vehicles) He befriends children, but messes with adults (who are too cynical) Also, I think "Tenets" not "Tenants"

pointy hat pointed out a while back how this could be really screwed up as a fey paladin might consider humans unclean and being 'moral' to wipe them out
@feywildfiend4 ай бұрын
It could definitely get messy! Rather than a "wipe out" mindset, I can see this paladin being on guard around humans, since they're aware that some of them can be good stewards of the earth. They could have a fondness for farmers?

A "subclass" is what happens when players and game designers think that choosing an identity is more important than role playing.
