I concur with everything you said about Caress. It is my favorite Rush album for sure and never will understand why it gets the bad rep. Thank you for the great lesson.

Alex has always been one of my big guitar heroes. The first time my music teacher used the phrase “unorthodox” in a positive way was to describe his playing.

Saw this and many other early Rush songs played live on their 2112 Tour in 1976. Lakeside Park was also played live on that Tour.

Thanks Larry! Good luck with it mate. Not enough classic Rush tutorials on KZbin. I've got the solos to Working Man coming up in the next week or so. First Solo is in the bag, still trying to pull apart and make some kind of sense of the very long and chaotic second solo. Will be a tough tutorial to pull off, but I'm determined.

Awesome lesson man. Learned most of it from your cover but decided to take it easy on myself after ten minutes of trying to pick out every note of that solo and came here for that lol. Lovethis album so much! Every single Lifeson part on those earlier tunes is some of the very most fun songs to play good and loud on guitar. I'm also a huge Dead Head and do a lot of Garcia-style mixolydian soloing pretty often, but this solo has definitely added in some really cool new mixo ideas for me to incorporate into that style of playing as well, so that's neat too. Thanks for taking the time and making this!

Good lesson and good job, the only difference I would do is back off that much dirt by backing down the guitar volume knob to about 8 on the song then turn volume knob to 10 on the solos, old school technique. Also helps to have treble bled mod to the guitar volume knob..
