Yes, totally agree. You can even hear it without a microphone or amp. An ancientt italien violin player discovered, Tartini, discovered that the interference of two high pitch notes give you the suggestion of an extra low pitch note. But to enhance that effect and to create lower and higher harmonics, a tube amp that is on the edge of distortion, a bit of soft clipping, gives you that fat amplified sound.

Thanks Jim, about 2 weeks ago my teacher told me that I need to learn how to play dirty. I've been out gigging, this is going to be an great added addition to my sound.

Did I say "that's a huge sound" enough times? ;-)
@markkeneson68065 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is caused by intermodulation distortion in the amplifier.

No that's just fine I need that repetition ! AND I found that TIP to be really useful as an explanation for better tone / distortion sound. Can't wait to try it..These are basics I need , but that explanation opens doors for me so many thanks again.

Just received my Bottle 'OBlues mic and Smokey Amp... it's awesome and super portable. I keep it in my car with a few harps to I can jam at a park or before I go to work. I would dig learning more about your cigar box guitar and how to tune it... Thanks!

Hi Jim, could you possibly point me to the tablature to that simple 2 note shuffle. As a complete noob to the guitar, I'd be stoked if I could play it, has it got a name?

I think you could’ve said huge sound a few more times…! I am wondering do you have any basic rules of gain structure from mic to amp, or mic to pedals to amp? Are there particular rules around staging pedals in the chain?
@janpeters-jansongsproducti10103 жыл бұрын
I mean when I tongue block and play more than one note at a time, or pucker intervals, and I’m playing microphone into my acoustic Fishman amp, it doesn’t get distorted and “huge“ in that way. It gets bigger and fuller yes. But not bluesy distorted. So there is something to be said for how and what microphone and amp we are using and gain structures, no?

Hi. Just curious, why is Bottle ‘O Blues written with the apostrophe before the O, rather than O’, which would be an abbreviation of ‘of’? Thanks for the video, it’s a really nice sound :)

Well, that' a mistake I made years ago, and by the time I noticed, I had already sold a bunch of mics and had a known brand name. Too late to change now!

It’s not the mic, it’s the player. If you don’t have a solid and fat acoustic tone, you won’t have it amplified no matter what gear you use.
