Always very clear. Play fast the cello is one of my biggest problems but I see...It' s not only 'my," problem! Words are important and used properly help a lot...coordination, control, not pressing too much but quickly and precisely. Keeping this in mind I start practising...

Playing faster is good, but I need to improve my string crossings. That is my biggest frustration. Been using dautzhauer etudes...but having a lot of frustration. 😔 It's also possible that I'm not utilizing shifts efficiently.. choosing to do switch strings rather than go down on the same string because I'm not as confident and familiar yet with the notes down the string. Lots of practice material talk about positions on the A string, but rarely give guidance to positions on the other strings

Please don't feel frustrated, we all go through the same problems. I don't know what you are playing right now, but for me the most fun piece for string crossing training is Bach's Prelude 1. You can stay within the first bars if you are a beginner. Positions come with time and practice. This exercise in the video is perfect for that. Keep practicing! And forgive my English.

Very good points. String crossing technique is often being neglected. Actually, Dotzauer-Klingenberg and Piatti cello methods give quite a lot of material to practice on the lower strings. Sometimes they just tell to do the same drill on the lower strings. I included it in some previous videos - it makes it much more laborious, but, definitely, it is worth spending time on. I also often fringing up attention to bow angle change from one string to another, which supposed to help to develop better bow technique. Frustration is our companion on the road to perfection. Make sure you don't let it to guide your way :)
