If ROLAND is paying this man, they should at least double what they are paying. I have had my doubts about a "Digital sax", but this instrument is something else entirely. If i can get my hands on one and buy it, it will be thanks to you. It is a marvelous instrument on its own, but you have my sincerest thanks for making me fall for AE-10. Please keep sharing more and more awesome stuff as you have been doing :))

Hi again Alister. I've just purchased the AE10 and am currently awaiting its arrival. I will be attempting to play it normally meaning with both hands. I was hoping that you could make a small video how to set it up to play it with just the left hand. Thanks so much for your very informative videos. Keep them coming.

Massive thanks and respect Alistair! If I was a little more organized I could blog a massive post of screenshots from your AE videos (new firmware has rendered many of the ones re: settings obsolete of course). Wondering if you could make it a little easier for us hardcores and release some custom AE sound banks? I’d love to reverse engineer them....plus your fusion-y patches are so sexy it’s ridiculous haha 🚨😎👍 Thanks again, looking forward to the next video as always!

Another great video, Alistair, I especially liked the use of the side panel to show the Editor software. I have been starting to use the Editor to explore its potential. What I didn’t like was using the tablet flat on my desk, I found a “Slope” made by Wiplabs, which allows me to use my tablet at an angle similar to a music stand. I have to say that it works very well. I have been in touch with Rowland’s Product Development department to suggest that the Editor software be adapted to talk to the tablet/smartphone’s accelerometer, which could make it more versatile. Many thanks for another great video.

Thanks Alistair, just mucking around with sounds but your latest video really opened up a whole new side to the AE that I didn't think was possible. Although it would quite difficult to apply with a band in a full song, it does allow for solo harmonic application or simple harmonized horn section stuff. I haven't even tried all those other features to find out what they do but with your help, it has given everyone a greater chance to explore. I really appreciate your knowledge and time taken for sharing. The AE is a far greater tool than I originally imagined. Shame youre so far away, it would be great to have a coffee and just chat about our passion. Well done Alistair, I'm sure the AE community appreciates your work and your generosity.. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Hello Alistair. many thanks for your work here! If you would have a group of uncommon chords 4-6 tones ea, and need them played in a fairly swift succession can that be done? Think i.e. The Who “Wont get fooled again" Synth Intro. Cen you define chords in the App and assign them to any fingering you want?
@isax.academy2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately not. On an AE-10 it’s only chords in parallel movement. On the AE-30 you can a assign a key and therefore get major and minor chords but still in parallel movement To do what you suggest, I’d connect the Aerophone to Logic Pro or MainStage on a Mac. There are probably similar apps. They have chord mapping which means you could do what you’re describing.

Thank you for all your informative videos I have been following you for years. I have a question, I had a EWI 4000 switch to the EWI 5000 because I wanted more realistic sounds without hooking up to a computer or mini. I am not really satisfied for the EWI 5000. In your opinion does the Aerophone 10 have nicer on-board voices. In my opinion Aerophone certainly sounds better. I would like others also to chime in. Thank you charles
@isax.academy6 жыл бұрын
+trilkey Hi, and thanks for following me all this time. I’d say yes, the Aerophone does offer a better set of imatative aounds like brass, strings and wind. I still like the EWI 4000 for its warm synth sounds but I pretty much only use the Aerophone now.

Thanks for the video. Does the technique work also on AE-5 Go?
@isax.academy5 жыл бұрын
Hi. No, the GO is only monophonic so you’d have to connect to a computer to do the same sort of thing with the GO. You can connect via Bluetooth on the GO of course so lots of fun there.

do you need to be an acomplished sax player (need to be able to play a sax reed) -I play recorder /Harmonica -could I easily pick up this instrument?
@ロクアンドロールしかないでも好きだ4 жыл бұрын
I bought one being a guitar player and I have no problem with the sax reed or getting sounds out of it, if you already have some music knowledge and are willing to spend the time learning the notes and practicing your fingering I think you should be able to teach yourself I intend to, it certainly is a lot easier putting in the training time when you can reduce the volume or use headphones but certainly no problems with using the reed after that you just need to play around with the bite control if you want to bend notes but after you learn the fingerings the rest should be no problem for example the growling song is made with a joystick near the right thumb so right there is one mouth technique you don’t need to worry about then apart from bite, maybe using your tongue to mute note especially moving to tricky fingerings then there is developing breath that is to say to ability to inhale more and release a steady stream but it’s just practice if you want to learn Saxophone the AE10 is a great choice because no one will complain about you making noise.
@stevebaldock49676 жыл бұрын
Alistair - Great what you do with the EWI and the AE10. I am expecting some funds soon, and was looking to an EWI USB. But would you say that the AE is more versatile, particularly with control surface tricks, fingerings etc? Also, if I connect USB like the EWI, is the speaker mutable so I only get computer audio, not on-board audio? I am by training a bassoonist (and recorder, and now ukulele!)
@isax.academy6 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes I would say the AE is a better bet and yes you can mute the speaker. What I do is have user presets for controlling external synths where the internal sound is set to mute. The biggest thing for me is the AE continues to be improving with updates and the EWI series sadly does not.
@stevebaldock49676 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the prompt response! I also know that documentation on the EWI is sadly very poor (we rely on people such as yourself). Conversely, I am currently reading through an online AE manual! Although more expensive, I think I might have to give one a try at my local sax shop (sax.co.uk @ Crowborough). I guess with the on-board and speaker and outputs I'd have the best of both worlds. Not being a brass player, lack of EVI fingerings would not worry me! Might have to push the boat out! Thanks again!

Question about an alternative for chord changing on a AE-20, which does not provide a thumb lever? Alister, first of all, thank you so much for your alsays marvelous videos!♥️ After watching a bunch of them and test driving the aerophone in our local store, a AE-20 - mainly for silent practicing capabilities - is now mine. After my first approach to this new kind of instrument I have very much fun experimenting on other sounds than sax where I come from. Question: Started diving into the aerophone sound features following your videos, I wonder how to get chord changes (quick major/minor switch) to work on my aerophone ae-20 which does not provide a programmable thumb lever. Any ideas on that? I would appreciate very much any help on this. Question 2: I saw and heard a very very nice “Horn section 2” setting in one of your videos (unfortunately I do not know anymore which video it was). Could you provide these or infos on how to setup this on a ae-20? Thanks a lot in sdvance!!

The screws on the mouthpiece won't tighten and during a performance the mouthpiece actually comes off. Anyone else have this problem?
@isax.academy5 жыл бұрын
Hi. I’m not sure which screws you are thinking of. The mouthpiece doesn’t have any screws to fix it to the body. Maybe you tightened something that shouldn’t have been touched? You can get replacement mouthpieces of course. Are you sure you are getting the mouthpiece seated all the way? It should be really quite stiff to put on properly and would never just fall off.
@mikemiller99155 жыл бұрын
@@isax.academy There is a screw at the top and bottom of the 'collar' that the mouthpiece slides into that I removed to clean the mouthpiece. It wouldn't move unless the screws were removed so I assumed that was necessary. After cleaning and gently putting the screws back they were tight but on the next performance the mouthpiece slipped off. I'm not exactly an Ian Anderson on stage but I do move around a bit and have to have confidence my instrument won't fall apart on a solo.
@isax.academy5 жыл бұрын
+mike miller Hi. So those screws shouldn’t be removed I’m afraid. I wonder if you didn’t get them back in properly? The mouthpiece is tight but gentle pressure and a wiggle will remove the mouthpiece without removing any screws. Just like on a sax. Hope you get it sorted.
@mikemiller99155 жыл бұрын
@@isax.academy Thank you. You are right. Fortunately there is a Roland repair person in my neighborhood and he showed me my mistake and fixed the screws but I will say it's an easy wrong assumption to make.
