Was there any other situation that the goal was different? I always keep wondering that when I watch your videos. I guess in "Why first?" the goal of the game is "not win", but you win by being second, so I don't know.

That stuck out to me, too. But here are other possible goals that make sense out of this seemingly redundant phrase: not to lose (e.g. don't draw the short straw), simply to have fun (e.g. RPGs), merely to pass time (e.g. playing Would You Rather)

This is an excellent video! Quick synopsis, basic rules, enough context for gamers looking to see if it's something they might enjoy, either by style of gameplay, topic of the game, teams vs co-op vs head-to-head... and the "if you liked this aspect, you might enjoy these." When I have more time, I expect I'll be deep-diving through your whole channel. :) I've only gotten to play this one day, close to when it came out, and I hope someday I can enjoy boardgames with people again. No, if they say doctor for 1, and there is medical and vet, you could do medical and vet. What ever number the code master says add +1 for what you can press. If I say for one, you can press UP TO 2. But if you get the 1st one wrong, you CANNOT do the second. Or if they say for 2, you can do 3, but if you get the first out of 2 wrong, you CANNOT do the 2 or 3. Sorry if it was confusing, I am tired.

Great explanation! Small nitpick though, there are alternate rules for 2 and 3 player variants. These are a bit different than the standard game as there aren't 2 spymasters, and instead you play against an AI team, but I feel it's worth mentioning. As long as you have a buddy willing to play, you can enjoy this great game. Spy sunglasses not included.

Thanks! We usually avoid mentioning the alternate rulesets, since it's not what most folks are looking for (I'd also argue Codenames isn't the game you want to play if you have 2 or 3 folks). We did the same thing with Suburbia's solitaire mode. We might do alternate rulesets in a second video in the future, though.

I received the Adults Only version of Codenames in a white elephant gift exchange. It's an OK game, but unfortunately the number of audiences I can play my version with is rather limited.

The Adults Only version is surprisingly difficult! It's challenging to come up with clues when basically everything can be construed as innuendo. That being said, we were worried it didn't belong in the video since we want to try and keep the content family-friendly.
