Good video Chad. I ran some invert a few years back and I had the apex defender (Nickel or OLB) run with (carry) #2 if #2 was vertical. (rather than just reroute) This forced the WR to widen his route closer to the CB, and also forced the QB to float the ball if he wanted #2 on the vertical, which bought my CB time to get under it. Then, rather than simply tell my invert Safety "you have flat", I told him GET UNDER #1 UNLESS #2 IS TO THE FLAT. I haven't run it in years though, cause it scares me. LOL

LOL at scares you. I feel you, it's not a traditional position for a cornerback to be in. Good adjustment by you on the coverage. When run correctly and called at the right time, it can definitely lead to a big play.

I would love to see what that looks like with a Nickel defense. Are the S/W and NCB responsibilities the same?

Nothing changes in those defenses. Remember that sub packages like nickel defense are just that, sub packages. So you are just taking the LB out and inserting a defensive back to match the skill set on the field for the offense. The responsibilities don't change.

If they run RPO to try and draw that middle backer in wouldn’t the whole middle of the field be open for the receivers to get too?

Potentially yes, this is why offense run it. However, if the defense is disciplined and perform their duties the RPO would be difficult as the LB / Nickel is supposed to re-route the inside receiver and force an outside release. This would delay their entry to the middle of the field
