Played for a bit and Died within 3 hours from an infection but couldn’t find hardly anything except some guns so I want to do the same as op and play solo to get the hang of things.

Running your own server offline has been a feature of Operation Flashpoint, Operation Flashpoint Resistance, Arma, Arma 2 and Arma 3 since their inception. DayZ, has the same pedigree... People just need to understand that there is no real difference between a scripted on-rails story campaign and a single player server instance run offline on your computer. In DCS (a combat flight simulator - or cockpit simulator) you can basically run any multiplayer mission solo by starting your own private server without being connected to the internet. This guide shows you how to do that. Great.

There is no "Local Files" when I click on Properties. Edit: Okay, it seems the new version doesn't require a "Local Files" section, you just simply go to your cfg file for the server, make the changes to it and save. Then DayZ will use that cfg file when running a local server. My new question is how to add mods to this local server.

Thank you. This seems to be the only way to avoid dishonest cheater and hacker bullies from stealing and destroying hard fought gains. Yes and yes,although I'm just guessing about the bases bit. I never billd them ever as its a bit too bourgeois for me.But as seeing as my gear always remains after a log out I'm assuming the bases will stay. Remember this like every other server.it's just hosted locally. you can have different servers set up and ready to go on your pc too

The quick answer is no. The workaround anwser is look for a public server with 0 players there are hundreds . In Theory it can be done but BI in their wisdom seen to have not included that as an option . In can be done in Arma3 which has a simillar launcher to Dayz , but I remember setting up private servers was a massive p.i.t.a.

hey uhm.. my day & Night cycle is set to x64 on the server .. but in the Server file its set to x12 and x1 and no matter if i change it in the serverDZ file it doesnt change from x64 .. and the day and night go by within like 10 minutes ... is there a way to fix this or to make day& night longer?

Well, best way to learn how the game works without any player disturbing you and not spending some 5+ hours in video guides for basic stuff, like how to do a fire without matches or lighter. Myself, i enjoy the process of learning while im playing, and if i don't need to be in Multiplayer for that, i will not.

Your description of how to get this working is the same as all the other recent tutorials, so I know this is the latest method of getting it to work.. But, while I tried this and it works for the most part, I can't eat or use any weapons. I can bandage myself after getting hurt, but I can't fight back or eat. The button just doesn't work when I have a weapon or food equipped. I even tried remapping it, but no joy.. I tried a public server and I can fight and eat just fine. This is a brand new install for me, I haven't played DayZ at all before today. Some people on steam are telling me I need a batch file with some other script added.. I don't have a .bat file anywhere. It makes no sense that I can't eat or fight.. Any suggestions?
