This is the slower breakdown of the song. The Jimi'isms in this song are his open string use and his rhythm precision and pace. What a master at rhythm. The lyrics are also profound. We (Earth) have got the blues. A link to me playing the full song is at the end of this video.

Yesterday, I was thinking “is all this time and effort worth it?” Then I see this. Thank you Kurt.

God bless you, I think that you are the only one to made good Hendrix lessons, with love and passion. May you consider doing more lessons on the live in Maui ?

Thank you for the blessing. I just shifted gears from Maui for a while. I've done a lot on that album. Now I'm focusing on Electric Ladyland.

@@millstap let’s goo! Electric Ladyland is by far my favorite album and era of Jimi at the moment. What were you planning on doing lessons on?

@@thomas6558 I've been working on House Burning Down but, as I thought, it's almost impossible to sound great with all of the overdubs Jimi puts in. And the effects. On the intro, I'm using a Phase 90 phase shifter, fuzz, and Echoplex EP2. It's hard to compete with that studio phase shift as well as the fuzz. I literally have to stop playing to switch everything off. So, if I do it, I may do it in sections of the best stuff. I really love the rhythm chords with the open B and E after the intro. That was a new one on me. Then the verse rhythm which is so crisp. Really cool stuff.

Could you do his "Rock me Baby" solo for Monterey or his solo on Izabella from People, Hell and Angels

G'day Shane. I love that Aussie saying. Someone challenged me (requested, but I take it as a challenge personally) to figure out House Burning Down from Electric Ladyland. Since I got very close to the intro with my phase shifter and echo, I decided I need to do it. Those bends at the beginning I think are what really influenced me to want to play way back when I started in 1969. Those are the sounds that are so heavenly to me.

Nice, thank you for keeping Jimi s art accessable for us. no sticker on the headstock?. I find I was just fine putting stickers on oil finish. I sprayed clear coat on the sticker first. It isn't blended in nicely like on my real fender but it's fine and not all fenders do a full blended in sticker with the decal buried in the finish anyway. I added a bit of vinegar to the sticker water as done have suggested.

The first one was a hassle so I said what’s the use. I also sprayed 4 coats of clear over it but since I didn’t want to spray the entire face of the headstock, I masked off around the edges of the decal. Kind of a pain. The first one turned out great though. I’m not sure it is a vintage correct Fender left handed decal and not sure where to find a good quality one.

Hey hello millstap! It's nice to discover what you do. I'm also doing a youtube channel mainly on Hendrix. I can see that you go on depth in studying his style and sound and that's what I try to aim for too. It would be cool if we could discuss a little bit one day. My channel is very rudimentary up to now but I try to focus on good music. I would be open for any advices or collaborations perhaps, who knows? Peace out! And congrats to stay in shape and playing well and fast! Karl

Hey Karl. I think I will pass the baton on to you young guys now. The best advice I have is to use some type of slow down method for the quick passages to be able to hear what Jimi is doing. I have used Transcribe by Seventh String forever but there are many of them out there. Some are handheld units and some are software for your computer. It's quite a bit of work and that is why I have chosen to step back because I have so many other things I need to be doing, including playing and enjoying playing. The editing part is where I get bogged down and it takes me a long time especially since I don't know all of the software tricks. It also wears out frets a lot quicker since you will spend a lot of time working on one song so I recommend using a guitar with stainless steel frets.

Someone mentioned House Burning Down and then it became a challenge to get that sound, especially the beginning. I pulled out my old Phase 90 phase shifter and put a bunch of echo on it and it was getting very close. I may end up doing it. I stay away from the studio stuff just because of all of the studio tricks with panning and phase shifting but I do love the intensity of those bends. I was also playing Come On which is fun but it is tuned to E which I don't care for anymore. I love how he phrases his fills in that song. Whatever I do, it will probably take a while. At least we are focusing on Electric Ladyland.

@@Dbalx Thanks. I always check KZbin to see if anyone else has already done a good job on any song I do. There was nothing good for House Burning Down as far as lessons go, that were accurate. Randy Hansen did a pretty good job of playing it live. It's not easy live since there are a lot of overdubs. I learned another Jimi'ism which I was pretty surprised about which again uses a chord with the open B and E strings. I was excited to hear it.
