This video breaks down how to play good positional defense on the flat side dump. I hope you enjoy!! Let me know what my next video should be!

Great stuff as always. Don't worry about shortening runtime. Anything under 20 mins for an educational video shouldn't scare many folks off.

I don't have any problem with the length at all. I think 10-15 minutes is probably the sweet spot. Sometimes we aren't always as familiar with your team mates so it may be helpful to refer to them by first and last name when you first introduce them in your discussion. I think this series is absolutely outstanding in the detail with which you discuss body positioning, eye contact, communication, etc, most of which would be too subtle for an observer to notice, but in hearing the player's perspective and having you break it down it becomes much more significant and meaningful in terms of what is happening in the plays. Again, Thank you!

No need to keep the videos short. I love every second of these

Love your videos. The mixing is kind of quiet however, I'd try to keep the max peaks around -6 dB with most sound being around the -11 dB mark

Thanks for making these videos. Just got back into ultimate after 8 years and joined a club team here in China. These help a ton.

Hey nice video bro! Keep creating this kind of content and sharing your knowledge 💪🏻 A suggestion with the audio of your voice, maybe if you can use a mic (I don’t know if you’re using one already) so the quality of your audio gets better would be great. Seeing your video from Panama 🇵🇦🤘🏻

I think it would be really helpful in these scenarios to see how the offense eventually beats this D. This can help us on offense and know what to look for when playing this D.

1:52, first clip shows excellent use of switching to stop give-gos and quick break side counterflow of a flat side dump where the reset is set up 45 degrees back from thrower. 5:38, second clip shows how to guard the reset when they set up lateral or 0 degrees to the thrower. 6:48, not mentioned here but worth considering is that this defensive positioning, sometimes called a squeeze, I think works effectively for defense against vert stack but less so against ho, because a successful upline gives up a huck power position, and that's more of a threat in ho. The bigger threat in vert is breakside flow. Against ho, you can face guard more parallel to the sideline and work to deny the upline. If there's a dump/swing, there may be an under continuation but it won't be for very many yards since ho cutters are shallower than a BOS continuation in vert. But at the same time, there may be no continuation if the 3rd handler defender is poaching the lane for the continuation. But then all this also assumes that the thrower can throw that inside back hand. When you're playing rec or even juniors, that may not be something reliable, so on that case use the squeeze regardless of ho or vert. 9:35, last example. Team defense essentially zoning on the flat side of the two main reset spots (the upline and the dump/swing)

Loving the analysis content. Couple of tech tips if you're interested: 1) boost your audio levels like 300% before encode (compare your vid at full volume to some other vid on YT), and (2) it can be fun and engaging to draw on the screen with EpicPen whilst talking. Loved the Sol Yanuck surround/switch at 9:50 - his repositioning as a reaction to his teammates movement/positioning was a perfect way of punishing the clustering and predictability of Revolver. Couldn't help but notice missed switches downfield at 2:02 and 5:59, not sure if you saw them, but they show there's still plenty of potential for improvement in this sport. If you're interested, Hive would love to see more of your team defence analysis, or see you take a look at the kind of offence we like (give-go, tiki taka, quick disc movement stuff). We're interested in publishing your work and compensating you for your time if you're up for it. Let us know and keep up the good work!

Great video! If you want to improve quality some more maybe look into some tools that allow you to draw on your screen while recording, which could be more clear than just using your cursor. Don't know of any specific tools myself but they're nice to see.

Awesome video! In terms of suggestions, not sure if it's just me but your voice seems quite soft when you talk (maybe talk closer to the mic, or adjust sound level?). Also, maybe for videos like this with multiple examples, you could add chapters (so people can re-watch certain examples from the video easily). Otherwise thanks, these are really informative!

Good stuff as always. I'd push back a bit on your statements about the completed throw in the second example not being that bad - it does give the power position with a defender trailing, allowing an easy huck up the break side, or an easy swing while the mark recovers. There's an example of this in your final against PoNY, where Keegan throws a lefty backhand which gives the handler enough power position to throw the breakside huck and get the easy goal.

Would you make some videos regarding man defense especially on the dump?

Feedback from a KZbinr: You exported this video with the volume too low. Make sure the volume stays between -18 and -6 db when exporting. Even with the volume all the way turned up it's difficult to hear.
