I'm seriously enjoying these french CLs. I just got this ship after LOVING La Galissoniere. I built her the same way you did (didn't look before ;-)). That rudder shift module is critical on the French CLs... I played her without any modules the first time I took her out just to see how she handled, and that rudder-shift time was painful in a cruiser.

"It wasn't a huge loss to the team" - I think you can feel pretty good about this; you effectively traded your ship for FOUR others, including an enemy battleship. Kiting away from him might not have worked. What if he had managed to nail you in the turn? You'd have died without the benefit of deleting an enemy BB from the game. The only other thing you might have got by living longer is a Kraken. RNGesus really blessed you with the fires, though. That was... impressive.

I just got the Galissonnière through the campaign with the permanent camo that came with it, i was halfway through the Emile Bertin, i have a question, do you know if radar and hydro work even if you are behind a mountain? or does the mountain block the radar sweep?

Radar and Hydro will both work through a mountain currently. Unknown if WG intends to change this in the future or not.

so looking for another cruiser line to grind (I have Germans and USN at T7 now). Which would you recommend; French or Japanese? I'm at the T4 French cruiser and the T6 Japanese cruiser. Not sure which I should grind next to the Germans and US lines

French, honestly. They do everything the Japanese do but in a much more versatile platform. You trade torpedoes and detection for speed and maneuverability. Given the long range HE spamming play style, I would rather play the French cruisers! :)

I run Aux Arms 1, Damage Control mod 1, AA guns mod 1, Steering Gears mod 2 (the rudder shift time reduction) and concealment systems. I think that's all of them. Check the video. I might still be running Main Arm Mod 1 in the first slot but that can be changed for Aux Arms 1 to help keep the AA alive longer! :) There is a whole captain skills video devoted to USN BB's and that build is specifically tailored to the Fast BB's like NC, Alabama, Iowa, Missouri and Montana! :)

@@bertrandbarbe245 I'm pretty sure there is a larger contingent of French people who believe the Battle of Mers-el-Kebir was a betrayal by the British than just Vichy sympathizers and family members of crew who are dead... It was a point of contention between the UK and France for nearly two decades afterwards as the British attacked an allied fleet while it was still manned by allied Marine Nationale crews. And they'd be rightfully pissed off... The reality is that there were horrible miss queues on BOTH sides that set the whole thing in motion. The French Admiral refusing to accept the British envoy because it's highest ranking officer was a lowly captain (who was chosen specifically because he spent time at the French Naval Academy and spoke fluent French).... the British not relaying information about being able to sail to the USA... I don't think it is unreasonable to say it was an EXTREMELY controversial decision at the time, even if everyone knew it had to be done to keep the ships out of German (either proxy or actual) control. As for Baguette and Surrender jokes... if you knew anything about me and my channel, I hate the surrender jokes... I use them sparingly if at all. I've spent a lot of time studying the history of France, specifically around their surrender to Germany in WWII and I can't in good conscious support the notion that France "always surrenders" at the sign of any opposition... that overly simplifies an extremely complex state of being of the 1930's France... and the French people had a hell of a lot more self worth than many give them credit for. I will own up to abusing Baguette jokes... because Baguettes, while tasty, could be used as weapons... and you wont change my mind on that! Four years of eating them and a trip to France confirm this! :)

Kiting is simply playing at max range and forcing them to chase you while, in general, running away from them to stay at that range. Using your ROF, speed and maneuverability to avoid taking incoming damage is also a key component! ;) I hope that helps.

I dislike this Algiers highly. It's slow a pain to play when you have a weak team. Health is eaten away by cruisers very quick. Doging only when the opponent is a bad player otherwise like I said so slow. Damage dealing is soso. using torps is nice for a suicide run. Overall It plays like a battleship with no armour. This ship is worse in every way compared to the EMILE Bertin wich is a geat solid noughty cruiser where you really can have fun with.
