Thanks Jimmy, this is the best golf video for senior I have ever seen. I am 82 years old. I started playing golf at age 62. I had two back surgeries and a knee surgery. This is the first time I have ever seen a golfer use the driver for 170 yards par 3. I am another person. When I played with young players. They probably laughed at me when I pulled out my driver for this distance par 3, I cared about my score not what I used. The result turned out good they probably stopped laughing at me. For years I couldn't hit any clubs that are longer than 7 iron. Since I studied, watched videos and practiced almost everyday now I can. I found your golf video early this year I really enjoy and learn a lot from your simple instruction. Not only that you are funny too, you made me laugh many time. Thanks again.

Jimmy, you just described my game. I gave up the driver, for a 3W. I don't hit fat, but much of the time I can get on the short grass. In place of the driver, I added a wedge. I now have a 52, 56, 60, and 68 degree collection . I am constantly pitching near the green. This video proves, smooth and easy does work.

Thanks for this, Jimmy. Just turned 76 last month, and I needed to hear this. A couple of years ago, I got tired of telling my playing partners what club I would've hit 25 years ago and trotting out my litany of excuses on the first tee, and I moved to the forward tees. No one wants to hear about the player you used to be, and no one cares what club you now hit from 140 yds. My back won''t let me beat balls on the range anymore, so I spend a lot of time on and around the practice green. I still shoot in the low 80s without too much effort.

I think this is a very positive message here. I’m in my late 50’s and I’ve had a back surgery S1/L4. I still have pain almost every day. Knowing that I can just take a nice smooth tempo swing and still be able to play, is huge. I used to be around scratch, but as the age and back pain increased, I just can’t play to that level any longer. I just want to play, enjoy the outside, and have some fun. I’m glad for this video.

Jimmy, I love the videos! 35 handicap at age 59 here and I shot a 98 yesterday. Vast improvement for sure. Pulled out a driver twice because I had enough room to hit that I could not make a mistake. Don't have a 69 degree, but used my NEVER used 60 degree around the greens instead of my 7 iron and it works! Played slow and easy and I believe I am going to break 90 before the end of the summer! 3, 2, 1, Fire!

I suffered from Frozen Shoulder a few years ago and couldn't play at all for 4 months. Once It eased off a little, this is the way I had to play for another couple of months. I moved up a set of tees, was hitting driver about 170-180, 7 irons about 125-130, but Hey, I was keeping the ball in play , lost balls and penalty shots were non-existent and I kept it moving towards the hole. I still managed to shoot in the 80's and was just thankful to be able to get out there again. It was fun.

Good stuff, Jimmy. I would however like to point out that as we age, it's far more likely that the bottom half is where the issues arrive, not the top half. That's knees and hips, and why we get more 'handsy' in the swing.

A nice thing older guys can also utilize is "cheat" clubs to augment your excellent advice. For example, on that second shot on the first hole, many guys will use a 4-6 hybrid. Some might use a whole bag's worth, like those from the Eleven brand. Or there's the Cleveland, etc Halo Launcher type hybrid irons. Or a 13+ degree driver. Or a 7 wood. Or a (Cleveland) HyWood. Jimmy, one other thing to perhaps address for the older guys is the huge slice so many seem resigned to playing. You see guys lining up toward the left field foul territory stands so that they can hopefully end up in center field. I've wondered if the huge outside-in swing is a physical limitations thing or just a long term swing thing that they simply accept. I have a friend like this. I say nothing because I don't want to really screw him up and he seem fine with it. It's like when Gene Wilder tells Marty Feldman ( in Young Frankenstein) that he might be able to do something about that hump and Marty replies "What hump"?

Hello Jimmy, Just found your channel and enjoy the videos and hitting ball much better! You are an excellent Teacher and easy to connect with....thank you! I was standing up too much! Can you give us some pointers on how you personally grip the club? My Golf Buds hate my grip as my right hand is so dominant strong. Always had a weak left hand, left foot since a kid. Been gripping club with super strong grip since I was 13....64 now. I need the right hand to help the weak left! Been a boring 15 handicap all my life. I can't do the interlocking fingers as that has always felt way beyond too weird. I just do the pinky overlap. I think maybe of trying ten finger baseball grip. Thank you for your Teachings! You were laughing about hitting driver less than 170, I occasionally do a drill hitting driver 100, then 150, then take a full swing, seems to help me know where the clubface is and to control the dispersion.
