Why throw the ace of diamonds on top of the king? If John has no diamonds he could just throw the queen of spades if he has it,it’s either in Bill or Johns hand as you didn’t pass to Lisa.Its not worth the risk

I thought it was a calculated risk. I'd rather try it near the beginning when I can be pretty sure everyone has a diamond.

That's true, but I sometimes take risks like that when I'm playing. It's safer at the beginning to get rid of a high card, because that is the time when it is most probable that all players will have cards from all suits. But you are right, I would have lost that trick 100% if I dropped the lower card.

That's a tough one. Like you said earlier it is a risk, so I'd probably not do it. While it is safe most of the time, it could lead to disaster. When you are leading that means all three players are going after you so it's a gamble that nobody is void in that suit. Personally I wouldn't do that very often. If I only had the ace I'd maybe try it, but as a rule, no.

Why did you pass 8 of clubs in the 2nd hand?you could’ve passed the 10 of hearts

Sometimes trying to get to a voided suit is more important than dumping the highest cards. And really an 8 and a 10 aren't that much different. I sometimes like to keep control of the hearts so I know they aren't being dropped on me.

Eric Buffington that would make sense if you only had a couple of clubs and hearts,just get rid of high hearts. What do you mean controlling hearts? You like to have a lot of hearts?

What I mean by controlling the hearts is that if I have them in my hand, I know where they are and I can drop them on someone else instead of having them dropped on me. That's all I meant by that. I'd rather have a bunch of hearts in my hand and be void in other suits.

Playing on this set-up must get tiresome. Do the graphics have to move that slow?

Not sure. I think they move faster when I'm not running the screen capture at the same time. Personally, my favorite way to play this is with four people at a table and a real deck of cards. But for an online game, this one is free, doesn't require a log in, and it's pretty good practice. :)

Why are you on the page that teaches you how to play hearts, if you have been playing, for 30 year just wondering, Ryan? At least Eric has pages to help us how to play games. If you listen he does say he did a few things wrong, I believe.
