@arcanesiren6293 жыл бұрын
Old comment, but technically, the descending riff is difficult af. George used this guitar technique called an arpeggio, or a broken chord. Even George himself had a difficult time mastering that technique. My guess is that many guitarists who cover this song can't be bothered using the arpeggio, so they just strum the chord at a slow pace instead, which is understandable. Gotta take the easy way out sometimes!

Carl, you are without a doubt one of the clearest precise teachers, i have had the pleasure of joining along with. It doesn't matter how long you've been playing, there is always so much to learn. The BEATLES are classic.🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎶🎵🎼

Many thanks. Been struggling with that riff for some time but the up stroke at the end has suddenly made it playable. It's some consolation knowing that even George had trouble playing it at first.

I play it accenting that decending line while doing John's part. There's two other things I play in this song that rounds out the rhythm with recognizable parts that typically George may play.

I like to end the song on the D major chord. It matches the vocal "oooh" that they sing at the very end. So , at the end , I still play that A major but on the last beat flip to D major on that final "oooh" to end the song.
@rickstillsent4 жыл бұрын
No that's wrong!!!! The "OOh" is sung on an F#. so it's actually producing an A6 Chord. If anything, instead of changing your ending A chord to D (which will give you WRONG notes), just raise the top open E to F#. A D chord will produce the wrong sound musically!!!
@ReeseMac4 жыл бұрын
@@rickstillsent Yes you can end the song on an F# chord as well but I think a D major chord works well there too and won't produce a wrong sound. The difference between the 2 chords is slight when you alternate them for the end of the song and do a comparison but I think you get the same effect with either chord. All you're doing is simply mimicking the Beatles final "Ooh" that's sung at the end which isn't necessary to do if you're playing guitar in a band with vocalists. But if one prefers to mimic the lyric "Oooh" I think either chord would work and won't ruin the song.
@rickstillsent4 жыл бұрын
@@ReeseMac Sorry to disagree strongly with you on this; with the greatest of respect, Music Theory is one of my specialities.I studied Classical music in my younger days, and I'm a professional musician now. You mentioned ending on an F# CHORD. I DIDN'T say that, and that would also be incorrect. I said that you could add an F# NOTE to the last A chord, by adding it on the second fret of the top E string, producing an A6 chord which IS correct. But a D chord contains a D note (obviously!) , and that clashes with the mediant C# note in the A chord. Sorry, as I said, no offence, but a D chord at the end just isn't an option!!!
@ReeseMac4 жыл бұрын
@@rickstillsent Ok. Got it. But all I'm doing is going from F#m to A major and ending it on a D major. That clashes?
@rickstillsent4 жыл бұрын
@@ReeseMac Yes it does...that's what I'm saying. the D note in the D chord you're playing will be disconsonant with the C# note in the A chord. Unless of course, it's only YOU playing solo, in which case the D Chord on it's own WON'T clash with anything, but it's still the wrong chord. My suggestion is to end the song with : F#m >>>>>>> A>> A 6 (that's an A chord with an added F# note from the second fret of the first string.) Try it!!!

Great videos in general. I know it's years since you made this but regarding Harrison's descending run why does it sound so different both in live and studio recordings than what you (and me) do? Some sort of unknown zeitgeist? Lol? Maybe something Lennon and McCartney are playing at the same time Harrison is playing that fools my ear.

Exactly, it sounds different and kinda sinister when you play it alone... Maybe it's Paul's bass that affects it, idk
