I think some online teachers avoid playing the entire lesson through *at all,* to avoid the algorithm bots that scan all vids for copyright violations. If it's good and accurate, there's a good chance it'll be blocked for sounding too much like the original. I don't know how Shut Up & Play avoids being blocked more often, but not including lyrics or singing at all certainly has a lot to do with it.

Honesty the best guitar teacher on youtube no doubt in my mind. The two hardest songs i know are time in a bottle and hopefully this song very soon. These are difficult songs but you teach them so well even a new guitar player could easily learn them, and i really appreciate that your the only guitar teacher on youtube who actually teaches the song how it is really played in the record. Thank you for making me a better musician.

At the risk of contradicting the advice of the master (and Andy, you are the master), i would observe that for me, it was infinitely easier to wrap my thumb around to reach the A string than to play the D chord in the alternative way. I have regular sized hands and am ordinarily not a fan of the wraparound thumb, but in this instance I couldn’t get a good rhythm going with the alternative D chord (which I took on faith was the better way of playing it) until in frustration and about to give up, I tried wrapping the thumb around, and found it really wasn’t awkward at all. So I would suggest that everyone try both approaches to see which works better. Having said that, another donation coming your way, thanks for another awesome lesson!

Wonderful. I used to play this to my kids and they’d singalong. Now I will have to learn it properly for my grandkids! I wish I had your understanding of theory. Fascinating, but you lost me when the d chord was in the key of g - or something like that! Thanks for all the time and effort you put into these videos.

Queen Elizabeth went into the clearing at the end of her path the other day, and this lesson on "Her Majesty" appeared in my email, thanks to your mailing list. What a fine tribute from Sir Paul himself and my favorite online guitar teacher! As always, I'm totally amazed by the simplicity, clarity, and accuracy of your lesson. Maybe I'm becoming accustomed to all that, but this the first time that I am also amazed by the sound of the guitar itself, aside from the lesson content. Would it be impolite of me to ask for a few words on the signal chain and settings used on the guitar track(s)? It sounds to me like a stereo image, but I do not know how to create that pure acoustic excellence in my own recordings. Mic placement...? Digital delay/reverb...? A deal with the devil...? I've looked for clues in the link to your Gear Page; I'm sure I'd be fascinated by a tutorial on your basic signal processing and recording techniques that result in getting that Taylor acoustic sounding so wonderful. Thanks for all the wonderful lessons; Best Wishes to you and yours...

Besides just being geniuses, do you know anything about how they acquired their musical knowledge? Because that chord progression is wild. I just found your videos though playing America stuff. Horse with no name makes just a gigantic difference than the ‘two chord’ version. Seeing Croce here made me so happy. ‘New York’s not my home’ was a song I learned to teach myself picking way back in the late 90s. Amazing videos, beautiful played and explained. Thank you so much. Have a wonderful week!

I think a lot of it was instinctual, but the rest was definitely hanging out with George Martin, who may not have been a genius songwriter but he was certainly a genius musician and producer. He left his mark on many of the Beatles songs. Cheers, Andy.
